I'm just wondering, if I got infected with a virus, Do they damage computer hardwares like the motherboard and the RAM? Or does it only affect the OS and the data.

Well the virus was poping up non stop and asking me to allow to scan my computer for viruses, i of course canceled it but still from time to time it pops up. I downloaded some anti-spyware programs and seems like they are working right now, beside them i have norton antivirus, But i am so mad to them because i logged in to their site and asked a live help, and they suggest me 2 ways, One was Do my self ,following the instructions online and fix it, other was letting Norton technicians to search my computer and fix it, And it would have cost me $100 , !!! Can you believe its true, i am already paying for norton tones of money to prtect my computer but they still ask additional money to fix it. I am so mad, I guess i will change my anti virus program!!! Well i have to share this with other people so i guess i ll open this as a discussion too, Lol Thank you for reminding me :) Have a great day!!!

I dont know, but I do know that viruses can cause your computer to crash, and it affects how your computer works in general, and some viruses can even steal personal information from your computer, one symptom that I know of as a sign of viruses is screen freezes slow download speed, strange pop ups out of know where, you should just pay close attention to how your computer is functioning, and go to cnet.com. to find some good free antivirus software.

Most of virus causes system slow down, crash and unexpected behavior its becomes so sluggish that we become annoyed. I think the virus affects the os i mean the software not the hardware part of pc which latter causes to system crash so you have to re install the os by formating drives.

Viruses don't actually damage a computer hardware, but some viruses can cause hardware conflicts that results to a hardware damage. Ok i'll explain more, hardware conflicts are cause by some viruses through the hardware's driver or software... It will create an error that cause for a certain hardware to fail and your system might crash for good, that's a really nasty virus. But I forgot what's the name of that virus because it's somewhat old, Now it may not exist anymore.... But still be cautious though.. ^_^

A virus will not damage any hardware. It is just a program so it can not physically damage any of you hardware.
