Which one is better - a vegetarian diet or a non-vegetarian one?

Most of us prefer to have non-veg. in our lunch and dinner. But the nutrient content of non-vegetarian diet is low as compared to vegetarian one? And also, fat content in non-veg. diet is too high which leads to an increase in cholesterol level in our body ultimately leading to obesity and cardiac attack. And thus the question arises which one is a better diet - a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian diet? What do you say?

I am having both diets.
But mostly veg diet.
My mother is fully spiritual so she makes non-veg only on selected days in the week. It includes Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.
I personally like both. But being a part of your discussion I will prefer Veg.
Some non-veg diet are good for energy but makes our body lazy for some hours after eating.

Thanx for your response... even I think the same way and a non-vegetarian too. But since last 6 months I am unable to have non-veg in my diet. It has all because of some personal reason. But now I feel fresh and a lot more energetic. Hence I am thinking to become completely vegetarian.

Non-veg is of course the better
You need meat in you diet to stay healthy
You need it for nutrients and fat

Neither! They're both decent, for some people they're awesome. Either way CAN be healthy...so long as you know what you're doing.
Both methods have pros and cons, it just depends on personal physiology and preference.

for me, anything in excess is bad.
they say that you have to have balance meal, vegetarian diet is not enough because some meat can give such nutrients.

I don't think so. There are vegetarian diets which take care of all your nutrients requirements wheteher it is regarding minerals, vitamins, proteins or fats.

Throughout the world, there are many kinds of vegetarian diets, which are you referring to? Some are very strict vegetarians and do not eat eggs. Some are ok with eggs.
Vegetarian diets can be high in fats too. Many people turn to vegetarian diet and gotten very fat. These are the ones focus on potato and rice as main carbohydrate source. Then there are some people who focus on seeds and nuts. Eaten in excess, seeds and nuts are high in fats, imagine eating almonds, pine and other nuts for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Salad with a lot of dressings are also very fattening.
No matter vegetarian or non-vegetarian, the best is to enjoy life and eat everything in moderation.

There is no doubt about it.... Vegetarian is always...
At the same time, Non vegetarian when added in correct proportion... boost up ur health.
But again, Chicken and lamb can be avoided. But fish can be included.
I'm a non-veg lover. But my vote is for vegetarian.

I have a pure veg diet during the week because of all the necessary carbs and nutrient content in veg food. But once a fortnight or so I have a non veg diet for a variety as I believe that having non veg food once a fortnight or once a month is not at all harmful to our health.

A non vegetarian diet is better for you. Non vegetarian you can control, and get the right amounts of food. Vegetarian you miss alot of things you need in your diet. Its not healthy. Unless you like popping pills. Nothing says "yum yum yum" like a bunch of brocolli, and a bottle of pills.

Both of them has advantage, we must consider if we eat too much fiber or meat or anything else it can damage our organ,,, our body will work harder, so it is aging more shorter. our body like a machine if you force your machine push until near the read line , it will soon damage your machine. Same thing happen with our body. We must eat a proportional diet that include a vegetarian diet and non-vegetarian...

I think those who are non-vegetarian needs this concept of proportional diet which is deficient in a lot of nutrients. As far as I know, a pure vegetarian can get a complete nutrient requirement of his body from pure vegetarian diet whether it is fat, fiber, proteins, minerals, vitamins and whatever is required.

well,i think a vegetarian diet is healthy and good for the body. a vegetarian diet would not increase the levels of fat and green leafy vegetable help to keep you fit and keep you energetic.
i stopped eating nonveg food a few years back. innitially i use to crave for eggs and chicken but now i feel i am more energetic and have more stamina than i had earlier.
but, even vegearian food that we eat should be cooked in less oils. too much of fried stuff ruins the body.
for those who have nonveg food, they must restrict to one egg and some white meat. they must not forget to add green leafy vegetables to their diet.

Actually I am a pesco vegetarian, meaning I eat meat but fish only or sometimes chicken. I would say that being vegetarian is very good to our health, but be sure to take other kind of food products that will supplement the daily requirments that your body needed.
