last year we just found out that my wife is suffering from goiter, and we have it checked it with a doctor and have some lab test fortunately it's not cancerous.she's taking medicine right now and eating lots of sea shells for it's lot of iodine but nothing seem to happen then last week her aunties friend saw it then advice her to eat seaweeds because she suffered the same fate too, then told her that she ate only seaweeds then her goiter is gone.my wife is now eating seaweeds but she cannot take the taste of it.my question is,is there anyone else knows about seaweeds can cure goiter??.

as far as i know, seaweeds are cure for goiter if you only have hypothyroidism. but if you have hyperthyroidsm i don't think it's good for goiter. cause i have this too but now i'm ok. but if your wife has only hypothyroidism, then i think it's advisable for her to eat seaweeds or other seafoods. if she doesn't like seaweeds, you can try to cook mussel or clams. you just steam it and drink the soup broth. it's kinda salty but it taste good. :)

Seaweed has a higher source of iodine and the camote tops it is the only plant that has a good source of iodine. I don't know why goiter is still the problem of the Philippines. We have a lot of sea foods to choose from and there's iodize salt to eliminate this problem. Hyperthyroidism is inherited condition unlike hypothryroidism is due to the inadequate diet of iodine.
