Today, April 6th, 2009 represents my sober Birthday. I have been claen and sober 18 years today. I got into trouble and quit abusing drugs and alcohol 18 years ago. I am an active member in my A.A. club and attend meetings and events sponsored by various A.A. chapters. I have met many great people from A.A. related sites online as well. I have attented one World A.A. Convention as well. Are you an alcoholic/drug addict? Do you use the 12 steps to keep you clean and sober?

I am not an addict of anything aside from Internet :)
It's good to know you can be sober for so many years
Hubby is still trying to quit smoking
he doesn't smoke as much as he used to
but quitting doesn't seem easy to do for now

Good on you AGB - I know that can't have been easy and it takes a very strong person to stay clean and sober so long you should be really proud of yourself. I haven't used or had a problem with drink but i have recently quit smoking and I know how difficult that was so I have so much respect for you! I am glad that you have met many good people via the AA and am sure it makes life a lot better.
WEll done AGB - I have always told you that you were amazing! Hugs and many Congrats xxxxx

Bob, congrats on your time in recovery. For us that are blessed, one day clean and sober is worth congrats. I got clean and sober 22 years ago after the heat got unbearable. I live in a small town of 224 people in southwest Missouri. We have 3 meetings a week, one is a womens meeting. I had an uncle in Kansas City that got sober in 1949. He was from this area where I live. When I told him about our meeting in this small town, he just couldn't believe it. So, when it come time for him to get his 50 year chip, he came to this small town (his old stomping grounds) and got his 50 year chip. The man was legally blind, used a walker, couldn't hear that well, but, when he spoke he showed the younger A.A.s what was possible through the 12 steps and the A.A. way of life. Glad you are here Bob, keep coming back.
