For about 4 or 5 days, If I try to open my browser( Both IE, and Fire Fox) in my desktop computer, I am getting the message window showing the following exactly.
"Could not initialize the application's security component. The most probable cause is problems with files in your browser's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard drive is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the browser and fix the problem. If you continue to use this browser session, you might see incorrect browser behavior when accessing security features".
If we give 'OK' to this window, the browser is opening, but I am not able to browse all he sites(Even gmail). It is showing the message "Secure Connection failed
An error occurred during a connection to www.google.com.Can't connect securely because the SSL protocol has been disabled.(Error code: ssl_error_ssl_disabled)
The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the authenticity of the
received data could not be verified.
* Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem.".
What could be the reason for this? It was working well previously with any problem. How to rectify this?

GO to your IE clear all the data like history, cache, cookies, browsing history now
go to TOOLS INTERNET OPTION ADVANCED RESET.
and clean all the temp files through disk clean and if all these wont work restore it to the previous settings from restore point.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have already cleared the temp files and cleaned the disk etc. But still it is not working. I have already restored the system also. I think ,reinstalltion of browser may help. Is it so?

It could also be due to an attack by someone or a group of people. Many attackers use programs snippets which mimic or masquerade as Firefox or IE components. As a result firewalls and anti virus programs recognise them as safe and let them through. Once inside the system they modify the settings or even take control of the browsers.
IF you have enabled whatever is necessary including the SSL protocol and the problem still persists then it is highly likely your browsers have been compromised. Other than using a different anti malware software you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the affected browsers. After having had certain security issues I avoid using both of them, unless there is no other choice.
all the best,
