There are lot of programs being shown on television these days. Most of which are related to the exploitation against women in India. We are in the 21st century but still the attitude of people has not changed. The orthodox attitude that existed in India since long, still exists. People still believe in having a boy child rather than having a girl child. They celebrate when a boy is born. Recently a program on television revealed that there is a village in India where if a girl child is born, it is killed instantly by drowning it in a tub full of milk. They offer the baby as a sacrifice to God so that next time they have a Boy child. They practices still exist in India. What do you think should be done to stop this?

It all starts with education, as you have noticed these beliefs normally exist where people are not exposed to what is happening around the world. They still feel that with a daughter comes the responsibility of "dowry" and with a son comes the benefit of someone that will take care of the parents when they are old.
Their definition of a boy or a girl stops right here that is why having a son is preferred. Now if these people were exposed to some of the women success stories around the world and in India itself don't you think their perception might change.
Now who wouldn't want to have an OPRAH WINFREY for a daughter ?
