How Much Did Your Children Weigh When They Were Born?

We were having a discussion at work the other day about big babies. I think of all of us, I gave birth to the biggest baby. My daughter weighed 9 pounds 5 ounces and surprisingly she was 2 weeks early. The doctor induced me early because she was scared that she would be too big for me to have if I went full term or she was also scared that I might be carrying twins and another baby was hiding behind the one they could see in my ultrasounds. Luckily, I wasn't carrying twins, just a big baby. I also gave birth to my daughter vaginally, all natural, no drugs, no epideral. Many people find that hard to believe. Yes, it was horrible, but if I had to go back and do it all over again.....I would have taken the epideral. Now, my son weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce and he was full term. I did take an epideral with him, I guess I learned my lesson from giving birth to my daughter. How much did your children weight when they were born? Did you have big babies, little babies, or multiple babies?

My first was 7lb6oz 21in 5 days late (I was also on a fat free diet my last 6 weeks because of a gallbladder attack), my second was 9lb1oz 22in born on her due date, my third I had a failed induction after he went vertex after being breach, 3 weeks later he went breach again and was born via c-sect 10lb11oz 24in & he was one week late. Needless to say I had PPD from the C-sect after having him. Though the Dr told me the c-sect would of been the best thing anyway even if he wasn't breach she wasn't sure if I would of been able to pass him naturally anyway.

My daughter was 7 pounds 8 ounces and my son was 7 pounds 14 ounces. I was told I had pretty good sized babies. One of my friends from when I was younger had a boy last ear and he was 9 pounds 11 ounces. That was a BIG baby.

Yes, that is one big baby! My brother weighed 10 pounds and 24 inches long when he was born. My mom said that she walked to the nursery after he was born and some women were looking at the babies and they thought he was 3 months old.

Both of my kids weighed about the same at 6 pounds 9 oz (the oz might have been off, I can't remember off hand)... my first was 2 weeks early, my second one week late and had to be induced. My kids were born fast - with my son I didn't even know I was in labor - I just had a back ache that lasted for a few hours and since it was near my due date my mom said I better stop at the doctor's to see - sure enough he was born 4 hrs later! My daughter was born less than 6 hours from me checking into the hospital. I won't be getting another epidural ever though if I can help it - they missed twice trying to give it to me with my daughter (just my luck to get the guy in training, lol) - before they even finished she started pushing to come out. So I went through all that grief for nothing and my back hurt for what seemed like weeks afterward! We're expecting baby #3 sometime between June and July (who knows? It's anybody's guess really!) so we'll see how that goes. It's kind of nice knowing I have some experience. At the same time though you never know what to expect!

I just have one baby -- my DD, Allison. When she was born, she was a healthy 7lbs 11ozs. I think she was either 21 or 22 inches long. I'd have to look that up. My DH is a tall man and I think Alli is going to take after her dad. She's a bit taller than most babies her age and she has the cutest little face.

well my child was born 7 pounds I think is a normal size, however the doctor always told me that you have a big baby during all pregnancy but it resulted to a normal baby.

Both my children were in the 7 pound range when they were born. I think 7 pounds is about average for a full term children. I was 6 pounds 12 ounces when I was born, so I suppose I was born average too. lol It doesn't matter the weight of your children though, just as long as they were born healthy with all their parts.

Its depends upon health of childre. If child is healthy then its weight is about 7-10 pounds. Otherwise bay be he was overweight or week in health.

I also gave birth to both of my kids naturally and the only part that hurt was when their shoulders came out,i guess it did not hurt that much because they were small babies my daughter was 7 pounds and my son was 6 pounds. I am glade that your daughter was ok at birth and that you were also ok.She was a big premmie not many are that big usually around 3 or 4 pounds.

My brother weighed in at 10 pounds something, he is now 6ft 4inches. He was sick when he was born too, he had to be in a humid (?) crib. But his head and feet touched each end of the crib!! He was in the same room as really small premie babies!!! Apparently a little funny at the time, even though all the babies were sick. I weighed in at 8 pounds and I am 6ft tall.
