Many discussions hard to follow because of bad English

Is anyone else having a hard time finding discussions to participate in? A lot of them are either extremely juvenile or the English is so bad that I can't understand it. I realize a lot of "foreigners" are "mylotters" - and that's great - but how do you find decent discussions here?

I feel that instead of criticising them we should lend then a hand. It's not the bad English that disturbs me as those who wish to improve will do so in time but it is those you use text style that I find inappropriate. MyLot is not the place for that

I find most discussions on here have the grammar levels of approximately one of my little cousins. Which isn't very good. I wonder, from their grammar, how many of the people on here have English as their fifth language. I answer most of the discussions as if I am talking to one of my aforementioned cousins. I try not to use long words; words which are more than two syllables long.
It is annoying when discussions use bad grammar, but they are probably doing better than I do, in say, French. I can usually glean when they mean from their words, regardless of the grammar.
A lot of people say they're on here to improve their grammar, but it doesn't seem to improve at all. Strange, but I guess that every little bit helps.

Well sometimes I am guily of that but there are indeed many worse than my command in English. What I usually do is to keep on reading until you find one that you can relate to. Having lots of friends that are good in writing in here also helps because you can monitor their posts every now and then.

Yes there's a lot of foreigner members here and I think I'm one of them. Though most of the foreign members here know how to speak English but I agree with you that there are some discussions here that seems hard to understand because of the English word their using. Let's just give them a chance and in time they can learn and improve it. Mylot is a nice place for everyone. Happy mylotting friend.

Okay so by now you might have realized that most discussions on mylot don't use correct english. I'm sure that you can still work out what they're trying to say though. If you can't leave the discussion.
People join mylot to be able to improve there english and learn, and I think that's great commitment.
