hi,pals! currently i live far away from the place where i work. and i don't own my car either. so i have to get up early to take a bus in order to get to the company on time.although i don't have to punch the time clock, still i will arrive there on time. however, its really sorts of feeling tired if u have to get up early in the morning and riding on the bus for more than 1.5 hour. Plus, i have to bear the very crowded passengers most of time. so my fellows, do u live far away form the place where u work? do u drive to your company? how do u feel about that?

no, I am lucky in that way. My office and home are quite nearby, in fact if I walk to office, its just a fifteen to twenty minute walk. However, in the morning I don’t want to walk and take a rickshaw to office…it’s a pleasant ride which takes about seven to ten minutes. In the evenings, I like walking back home. There is a disadvantage however…on weekends when the office is closed, if there is any emergency work, my boss always expects me to turn up since I stay so close by.

Hi Kunking, I used to live far far away from where I live. Everyday I have to get up at 7 a.m. and take one hour of bus to the workplace. Fortunately, the bus is not crowded, but I still feel very tired after 2-hour-busride. So, I quit that job. Now, the company is closer to my house, just half an hour by bus. However, I am confronted a big problem, the over-crowded passengers, and there is only one bus goes there. Everytime I get on that bus, the stinky smell, pushing and squeezing really drives me crazy! I'm twice tired than before, maybe I will ride a bike to work tomorrow or just walk there~~~

I am very fortunate to live only ten minutes away from my outside the house job. Last year I had a second job that required me to drive across town but that still only took about 15 or 20 minutes. I hate the bus and am so thankful everyday to have my car.

Well currently I live about 29Kms from my workplace, and the commute by my car is about 20 minutes. I have to get up fairly early, most days starting to work at 7 am. A couple of times a week, when the schedule matches I ride with my neighbor. But before I am moving here, I worked at a Hotel in a National Park here in Canada. I lived on the 3rd floor and worked on the first floor. I liked that, wake up and 6 58 and be to work at 700 am. Lol, it was great, it is what I miss the most about working there.

My work place is just 14-15 Kms away from my house and if I travel through my bike it takes 45 mintues to reach the place, however, if the traffic jam is there, then it takes one hours to reach. It is always tiresome to travel in traffic jams and bear the noise pollution and air pollution.

Hello kunking, Ye, I live away from the place I work but not very far. It is about seven kilometers away and I have to take two rides to arrive there. We usually took jeepneys to go to work. There is no scheduled time for the jeepneys to leave and so you have to wait for other passengers to arrive and when it is full then you can go. It will take me about an hour for the waiting and the travel to arrive at my work. It is part of the daily routine and you just get used to it. It is good to have a car but the gasoline is pricey and it is cheaper to take the jeepneys. Regards.

Hi, friend. My spouse and I (together with our only child and my 3 younger siblings) have been renting an apartment here in the city for more than a couple of years now. And in a way, I could say that our workplace is fairly near the house. In fact, my travel time only takes about 15 to 20 minutes daily; except when the traffic is so heavy. But we still have to take a public transport since we don't have any car of our own. This is one of the reasons why I prefer to leave the house much earlier and then take a less cheaper route and transport. In the process, I do get to spend less and exercise a little. Currently, I am taking an airconditioned public vehicle and it costs me about 3/4 of a dollar going to the office and back home. Comparatively, if I take a jeepney, it will only cost approximately less than 1/4 of a dollar. I do wish that we will eventually have our own transport someday; preferably a van; so that we won't have to haggle for seats anymore whenever my family and I would take trips to our workplace and to the province every long holidays.

I got lucky and live about two minutes from where I work but my grandmother works half an hour away from home and I know a friend who works an hour and forty five minutes away from home. And to think - I wanted to work with that friend.

My house is just a 10 minute ride to the office. I don't have a car either so I just ride a jeepney(that's our mode of transportation here). Usually I leave the house 20 minutes before my login time. Sometimes if the jeepney driver drives really fast, it would just take less than 10minutes going to the office.

I live 5 min from my work and I do drive. I would walk but it is off of alot of busy main roads without sidewalks or crosswalks. To say the least I'd like not to become "road kill". Though I have had a job where I worked between two offices in one day so it was 30min to get to the first office and 30min to the second, then back to the first then back home. It kinda stunk but it paid the bills at the time.

I am very lucky that my apartment is only 7 minutes walk from my office... so when it is not very hot outside... i just walk... but if it is... i ride the tricycle and that would only take me around 3 minutes... In the past... i experience travelling for like an hour just to get to my work place... and that can be very stressful... and expensive too...

I fortunately live nearby, so I just have a 10 minute drive by scooter. however very soon the office will be shifting to a location nearly 1.5 hours away from homw. I will then have to travel by train, which is over over crowded, but then beggars cant be choosers. Its going to be a mad rush, getting up early and starting one and half hour early. So, I'll have to leave house at 7.30 am to reach office by 9 a.m.

Yes I do live far off from the place I work. Similar to you, even I do not have a car and have to board the bus every morning to reach my office. I think the whole process is really tiring and so you do not feel really fresh in the morning. So the whole day is somewhat sleepy. I actually feel the regret of getting a vehicle.
