Are you a proud Filipino?

Philippines

Yes I am too, even I'm just a half Filipino ^_~ but my question is.. Are you proud of the Philippines too? people in the country, Politics, Law , Religion, Life being here and other many stuff? Well in some point I don't like those kind of stuff and I'm not proud of it. Most of Filipino's are greedy ya know, and most are too lazy too work, they just want what they want in instant. I can't explain it here though I don't know what words to type to express it. lol

I don't like what some Filipinos are doing--like corruption, crimes, etc. but that doesn't make me love the Philippines less. At my age, I have already risen above personal issues, and it would take more than what's happening to our country now to make me want to hate my country. But I am a Filipino, and I will never forsake nor leave the land of my birth...

It's nice that no matter what you still love the country, We all do. We just don't bad, corrupt people to handle the country, We don't need to be blind and stay mute. We have to admit and face the fact that it is really happening and we must ACT for this ^_~

So what have you done to correct these bad things in our country? If we just merely pay lip service, I don't think it will really help this poor country back to its feet. Let's do something concrete...all of us, me included.

Filipinos are not lazy tyronie. Your opinion and views are not base on facts. Here's the real score man. The reason why there are millions of Filipinos who doesn't have a job is because of the lack of opportunity here. Period! And that's the reason why many of our countrymen are working abroad. Are you one of those that you said? Well, almost everyone in the world is greedy.

If you'll do a research you'll find out that the Philippines is better than other countries. It's not only in the Philippines that those things that you say happen.

Maybe I am, and maybe not, No one know us than ourselves. I'm sorry for the term "Lazy" I know that Filipino's are NOT lazy but most of us or maybe a FEW. Yup, They take chances to work abroad for their families sake. I'm just wondering if that all Pinoy's out there working is actually working here in Philippines, Maybe we can progress a little more faster. IF that the government will act ^_~

There are no race that don't have flaws in it. Having bad traits is not confined to the Filipino race. I truly understand what you mean when we start talking about the corruption in the government and some of the prevailing values we observed in the country nowadays. But should these things stop us from taking pride in the other good things we have and the greatness we showed throughout the world? But I fully disagree with your that most Filipinos are greedyI wonder who you are referring to. We may have hundreds and thousands of corrupt politicians but there are still more Filipinos out there honest enough to return things that they find even if they are in deep financial need. Some of our law enforcers are may be involved in extortion but there are more out there who are very willing to offer even their last meal to other people. And most Filipinos too lazy to work? Wow! That is an insult to the thousands of overseas Filipino workers who are known for their industriousness. I guess, as a half-Filipino, you are just exposed to a figment of the middle class or higher class society who does nothing but flaunt their old money and take advantage of other specially unsuspecting new acquaintances. Try to be more realistic. Go visit the rural areas or the neglected part of our society and you will see how many of us are breaking their backs for a living. I could have said more but I will leave it to you to discover the other sides of the multi-faceted Filipino.

Oh yea, I'm not referring to the Pinoys outside of the country. What I want to tell is the one inside the country. Well of course if you have the guts to go outside the country, do the job there for a living, then you are considered as a hard worker. I thought that maybe if a Pinoy read this when he/she is outside working. He might say "I'm not one of that lazy Filipino". Yes, You are not. I'm sorry if you misunderstand what I meant. Maybe take a closer look. For the second time, It's not just because I'm an half that I could say such things like this maybe I'm just looking forward for the Philippines to grow? Maybe that? I have most of my dreams here in Philippines.

We can't deny the fact that there is bad side among all of us..but i also i think that we are not that lazy and greedy as you say my friend..You are just focusing too much on the negative side, well if you look closely on the positive view..we have so many good values..i guess its just the way how people react on it..And i also think other countries or nationality such as chinese, americans, europians has also bad traits that they also posses. It is just normal because we are just humans and we make mistakes, the question is how we take that mistake, either we learn from it and never do it again or just ignore it. So stand still and be proud my friend..^_^

Ahaha, Thanks for the response I know we're just a human, We made mistakes and we're not perfect. I'm just thinking that how can that be that other country is like that and we are not? ^_~ I'm focusing on the negative side because I want a change on that facts. I want it to be more less and less before I die, if 2012 is true. lol ^_~

It seems like you've been bombarded by our compatriots. As for me I'm proud to be a Filipino. I'm proud of our culture, values and language; whenever possible I would manifest it the best I could. I'm not proud of the shortcomings, flaws and other bad sides of our country. But I know there is still hope for our country if we, Filipinos would profess our nationality wherever we are and let our talents and good personality and character prevails.

Yes! I'm very proud that I'm a Filipino but cut the politics thing it's something that really caused the negative image of Philippines around the globe, corrupt officials, unexpainable wins of leaders and a lot more stuffs... The Law is today is not human, rich people still hold it with their hands... Religion, I'm grateful that I was raise a catholic, I learned a lot of great things... Life? I'm wonderful that I was born here I learn the value of work, how to survive, how to deal with other people and stuffs. So,all in all... 2 vs 3... I'm proud to be a Filipino no matter what they say, I just love it there's something different with us I just can elaborate. We're sort of one of a kind.

I am proud of being Filipino, Although there is a bad side of being one of it but still i prefer to be a Filipino than any other races for Filipinos are family oriented and has close family ties that mostly other country don't even care. And mostly Filipinos are loyal and hardworking not just for them self but for their families as well. They help each other and care for each other. The negative side that you see is only a little in percentage so i think Filipinos are still the best for me.

In the blood that are rushing through my veins, i can say i'm proud to be a FILIPINO. I will not sight the negative, but i will all state the positive. I'm proud to be Filipino because we are hard workers even though we do not have a good enough rest we still go for the work and show that Filipino are industrious. Like those OFW in the other country even though sometimes they were hurt by other people, they still their respect and do their best for their work just to show that Filipino are good. With this thing and matter i can say that we must be proud and be inspired with those people, who stands even though they were heart. Even in there are many politician that are corrupt in our country, i also still proud to be Filipino, because i know that in some part there are many Filipino politician that are true to their to them self and do the right thing just to show to all people here in our country that there are still Filipino that are honest and can stand with the truth. Many Filipino are kind and very hospitable to other people especially to those tourist that are visiting our country and that it is also one of the reason why i'm very proud to be Filipino. And as i remember of showing honesty in other people, i see in the news that some Filipino in other country give back the money that they see in a place were the owner forgot it. Which even though the cost of it is enough for them to lived with out working, they also still give it back to the people who ownes it, because they know that if they will do not give it back and our clan of Filipino will be blame with that matter. That's why they really give it back to show Honesty. As i remember this saying of our National HERO DR.J0SE RIZAL said that "ang hindi maalam mag mahal sa sariling wika ay masahol pa sa malansang isda( a people who didn't know how to love his own country, is more than a rotten fish". With this saying it can be compared to the people, which is if a people didn't know how to love his/her nationality is more than a rotten fish. That's why in all matter i can that i'm proud to be a FILIPINO! Mabuhay! well, that's all my response with this discussion. Happy posting and happy earning! By the way even you are half Filipino, you must be proud of it,because there is a brave blood that rushing through your veins which is the FILIPINO blood!

i would imagine that most Filipinos would answer yes to this question. it's easy to say that one is a proud filipino or a proud american or whatever. what does being proud of one's nationality mean anyway? does wearing a t-shirt printed with the philippine flag and other symbols make one a proud filipino? i think the other question -- are you proud of the philippines? -- is more difficult to answer. but if you ask me i would say that yes i am proud of the philippines despite all its flaws. to answer the original question. am i a proud filipino? uhm... well i'm sure i'm not ashamed of being one but i won't be going around wearing the national colors or have ancient alibata symbols tattooed on my back anytime soon. that's just too cheesy for my taste.

Hello tyronie4cash, Each country has it's own share of greediness and laziness also. I think we Filipinos are happy what we have and content with it. We are a Christian nation and we believe to count our blessings. Just go into the province and you will see that very few people have works but they survive and are happy. You only need one member of a family to have work and everybody in the family will survive. We have this culture to help family member because we have what we call "debt for life". I think our country will remain like this for a long time, poor but happy. Regards.

Of course. We should be. Even if at some point there are some bad things that goes along the way, then we shouldn't focus on those things, 'coz every country has it's own flaws. :) We have many things to be proud of. :D

YES!!, Im a Filipino and proud of it. "AKO'Y ISANG PINOY SA PUSO'T DIWA,PINOY NA ISINILANG SA SARILING BANSA..". You ever heard that song Tyson? You understand tagalog? yes? It's a pity what's happening to my beloved country right now. Once upon a time our economy strength was comparable to Japan. That was in the 1960's, i think. When P1=$1.. But now, some 40+ years later... tsk, tsk, tsk, But in spite of that, I'm still proud to be what I am, and you should be too. Every Filipino should be. Someday, somehow, I know this NATION would be great again.. MABUHAY!

Absolutely!. Filipinos possess many good and admirable traits that other races don't have. Its too many too mention but to think of it, the Filipinos are the most hospitable country in Asia, we are diligent, respectable, hardworking, and many more traits we proclaim that were the best among other countries.

yes i still do. eventhough i hated the political ways of the people here. they always voted those people whomt hey think are good which in fact they arent. mostly all polititcians are greedy and fond of using us, for personal needs. i guess you know what i mean right. but on the nature part of philippines, thats where i am so very proud of! becuase we are so rich in natural resources and i just hope we will use it wisely. thanks friend and good day... jhelai
