Another possibility is the different version of Word used by the others. Usually if the other person uses a newer version that is what you would get. I have seen it several times in the past.
If different versions are used then ask the other person, if he/she is using a newer version, to save the file using the command 'Save As'. Choose the Microsoft Word option compatible with the version that you are using now. In a worst case scenario use the 'Rich text' option, but certain formatting will be lost.
all the best,

which email provider you are using. you can always try another. the reason could be the file you are attaching is corrupted. try to make a new file and if you think that the file is not corrupted then you can try zipping the file before attaching it. the file also can get corrupted when you attach it.

I think it wont e the problem I have attached files lots & lots of time with email which was not word files, SO there is very very less chance of file corruption.
it may be another problem.
Thanks for advice.

It possible when your file not contain with Word file (eg. with extension ZIP,DOC,DOCX,TXT,etc.). Or, your file always receive data from online when you open file. This makes me think a lot, because i don't face these problem. Perhaps, your ms word need addition installation if there less for language installation.

Yup, the file that has been uploaded is corrupted. To resolve it, tell the person who sent you the files to re-upload it and send it again to you ;). I don't if this will work to check, try sending the corrupted file back to the sender and let him/her download the files and try if it will open, if it does open with no problems then the problem is on your side. The connection maybe? =D
