I was just wondering, if you prefer to read with or without music. I personally prefer to read with music; though playing softly, and usually without lyrics, as that can sometimes be distracting.

I can't read when music is playing. It just messes with my concentration. I just can't focus. That is a real problem when I am in a doctor's office or something waiting and I want to read but they have a radio on or a television. really annoying because then I can't read. I can only study in complete silence too, which made it hard in college.

I prefer a quiet background when I read. I suppose that if there is a lot of background noise some quiet music, without lyrics, that I am already familiar with could help drown it out. But if I try to read when someone else is playing their music I have a great deal of trouble concentrating. I usually tire a lot more quickly under those circumstances.

It has to be music that I can treat as background or I will pay more attention to the music than to what I am reading. Although, it also depends on the reading material and how much concentration it requires.

it depends on what kind of book I am reading .When I read the book that is not important I listen to music.Otherwise ,I prefer not to do so.

I can't read with the music, it's distracting. Plus, if I'm too focus on the story, the music will become an annoying noise (regardless what song it is) So I will prefer a nice and quite environment where I can finish my books.

I prefer to read without music...it's too distracting even if there's no lyrics. I starting humming along to the music and that's the end of book reading for me!

I don't know how is it possible to read with music. I will get confused, and won't be following on what i'm reading. I'm a fast reader, and I can understand what i'm reading although my fast reading. Listening to music while reading can get me out of focus, and I won't understand what i'm reading.

I usually like it quiet to read! If I did have music on , it would be like you suggested , no words for distraction. I do like the music to relax by but rather read with it all quiet

While reading or studying it has to be very quite. But while I am online I like to listen to my TV. I love to listen to music if I am alone. If I am alone I will dance with my pups, LOL!!! Boomer loves to dance with me while I clean house, LMAO!!!!

I usually prefer reading without music as it helps me to concentrate on the subject which i am reading. If I listen to music, i like to enjoy its serenity. Music along with reading distracts my mind.

Both, with and without music. But I make it sure that the music is playing is mellow or instrumental as it can not cause distraction in my part :)

I prefer reading without music too. I love listening to music more than reading that's why I can't have focus to what I'm reading. :-)

I like to listen to music while doing some things, my lotting for instance, at other times I think music is a distraction like if I am listening to TV or something. It really depends on the activity and what I am doing as to whether or not I have any music on. I do tend to listen to it sometimes when I am online.
