My husband shaves our maltese's eyes, he has tried the powder you put in the food before but told me that it didnt work for Ernie, so we just take it all off....What is your method?

I also cut the hairs from my almost 11 years old boy and I am using tear remove solution. I think that you can get this in every pet shop.

i tried that too, and maybe i didn't use it right but it didn't do much either, i might try to use it again, because Ernie looks sooo cute when his eyes are clean!

You must use this some days first for the eyes get clean, later is enough when you use this when there are new tears. With this way I am going much well.

I have also cut the hair on my 10 month old Maltese.. I have also used tear removal solutions but nothing seems to work. I began feeding him from plastic bowls and have given him bottled water and his face has begun to clear up some. I am also planning on finding ways to remove the tears stains with homemade products since there are no chemicals and I don't have nothing to lose. If all else fails I may consider my Maltese to get surgery to open up his tear ducts

I cut them too, and surprisingly it works pretty well. I know it's probably not the safest thing to be putting scissors so close to my dog's eyes, but I feel that works the best. Also, since I don't cut his hairs every day, I find that using a napkin or whatever to wipe the tears before it changes colors helps too.
