House (and I can't believe who died)

This is about the episode of House last night (4/6/09). I searched for a discussion about it and found none, but if someone already covered it, I apologize if this is a copycat. And if you have not seen the episode yet, and have it on your DVR or tivo, please don't read any further, lest it spoil the show for you. I'll get down to what shocked me. Kal Penn's character, Kutner, committed suicide. Yeah, if we had had to guess who would die, and if we knew it would be by suicide, no one would have guessed Kutner. Now the actor wanted to leave, so it was not like they wanted to kill him off. But once the writers knew he was leaving, they thought this would open up a deep chasm for all the characters on House to deal with. Kal Penn is taking a pay cut for sure, because he is going to be working indirectly with the Obama administration. A liason of sorts (not in the White House). While I'm not an Obama fan, I admire someone who quits a well paying job (he says he loved being on the show, and is not done acting for good) to work in a field they believe in. I know he was leaving, but if he hadn't been leaving and it was just a story driven plot, I'd much rather have Taub be killed off. What did you guys think of the show? Any other thoughts?

Hi ambie! I didn't see the show because I keep forgetting that House, which is my favorite show is on Monday now! I love Hugh Laurie more than any other actor! He is to die for himself! What an adorable Englishman! Anway, yes someone did a discussion and I was shocked to see that Kal Penn did want out of his contract! I think he has made a terrible mistake! I know he went to work for Obama because he felt that he needed to! Oh, well! But, what a shame! He was a major charachter on this show and he will be surely missed! I agree that I would have much rather seen Taub go! I don't like him either anymore than I like Cameron! Get her gone too! Leave House alone you s..t! He can do so much better!

I was hoping that if Kutner had been murdered, Taub was the one who did it so I could get him off my screen as well.

Wow I really adore this show, but like so many shows I love, I haven't seen so many of them. I need to catch up by watching one of those marathons! I don't even recognize the names! I need to buy the entire series so far! I too admire someone for working in a field they believe it that doesn't make a lot - like many educators. I know you meant last nights show and I know its terrible to involve myself in a discussion when I haven't seen it isn't it? I just love this show and couldn't help myself.

I think you can catch up on the shows using www.hulu.com. If not there, maybe Fox's site has the episodes available to watch for free. CBS, ABC, and NBC do that.

House is one of my favorite shows, and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who was surprised by this. I couldn't believe that they killed off the character of Kutner. I really loved Kutner. I was really sad at this loss. I think that he was a nice guy, with a great sense of humor, even though it didn't come out very often. I'm curious to see what is going to happen, now that Kutner is gone.

I was sick to my stomach at first. It took getting to the end when they flashed the mental health tips to, I guess, accept it. It made for a good show, but maybe, possibly it will get someone some help. I have to say, sometimes TV shows get complacent. And I admire the writers for taking the chance of shaking things up. Although I would have liked the door left open for Kutner to return.
