Well, Monday was the big day…I finally got the terrible tooth pulled that was making me miserable. It really wasn’t that bad. My dentist is a wonderful man who is so great…he really takes his time and makes sure that you aren’t in any pain whatsoever. The tooth was one that is right next to my two front teeth and this thing looks like a vampire tooth…talk about long. This is also the first front tooth I’ve had pulled…all the others have been back teeth so it hasn’t had any impact on my appearance. This one though has…I LOOK LIKE A PUMPKIN NOW I’m never gonna smile again. My Mom says I should get a partial but I’m not going to…I’ll just learn to live with it. I’ve managed to get through the pulling and started healing already, all with no pain pills. I’m still on soft foods but it doesn’t hurt at least. Have you ever had a tooth in the front pulled and it altered your appearance? Do you have a great dentist? If you have a tooth pulled, would you get a partial plate or just live with it? I know how you feel. I have a tooth out on the bottom that has left a gap and I hate it. If I could get it fixed I would but that would be costly and if I got to a dentist I am afraid they would strap me to chair and say you aren't leaving till they are all pulled...and then hand me a big bill. So that is great you got a gentle one and a good one.

Hi twoey68, Well at last painfree, its horrid when you have tooth like that, I remember years ago when I had several tooth pulled out including the one that didn't need pulling out and I had partial plate put in and after a while that went and now I have a set of false teeth and never had a tooth ache again and I'm only young. There was something wrong with my gums then. Some of the my fell out by themselves and once when I was biting an apple, it came out. Theres nothing like your own teeth though. Tamara

I have a partial on one tooth and it feels a lot better, it's in front aswell. It boosts your selfesteem and no one will even know it's a false tooth; they are so clever with these things nowadays. I love it, I wouldn't want to live without it and I can really recommend it to anyone.

I am glad you have a good dentist because I think they are hard to come by sometimes. I have found a good one as well. Have to have my top teeth taken out and then a plate made. Ugh! I have had too many bad experiences with dentists not to say that the good ones are needed and not always easy to come by.

I do have a good dentist...but he always want to do too much. I have a partial plate on one side....but I also have gum disease and where he put one of my crowns it's pulling away already....eight hundred bucks worth and it has a gap! So I quit going to him for a while....he's a bit on the greedy side!

I have never *touch wood* had to have any teeth pulled out yet, ever!! If it happens that I ever have to have any of my display teeth pulled I would definately have to have them replaced somehow I could not cope with having no teeth! You have also just reminded me that I am due a checkup at the dentist!

Awww you poor thing... Thankfully I haven't had to have any teeth pulled, I just went to the dentist Monday and she told me I was doing a good job taking care of my teeth. I don't think I'd ever want them pulled either, knowing me I would have alot of complications, I just can't seem to do things the easy way, if you know what I mean...lol. Thats good that it doesn't hurt, and that your almost healed. I don't know what I would do if I had to get one of my front ones pulled, it would alter my appearance and it would take some getting used to, I might would get a partial, I don't know. Hope you get all better soon...

Well I been to several different dentist and the one I 've recently found has pulled at least 4 of my teeth that I can remember. I am also a pumpkin but now I am feeling like the easter bunny. LOL I only have Two teeth on top and they are my two front ones I just had the tooth next to the two front ones pulled last month at the end of the month. (take note I was stitched see below about what happened) I am working on getting a whole plate for the top. I am glad to hear you are healing very nicely. But of all the teeth I have had pulled last month was the worst. I woke up the next morning and everything seemed to be fine bleeding had stopped. Later on in the day. the spot wear the tooth was pulled was bleeding like crazy I was filling gauze up like crazy I filled a cup up. My husband suggested I should go to the hospital the Emergency Room Therfore it was a Saturday. I told him I was scared I didn't want more stitches. I didn't want to go because they are not dentist I didn't know what was going to happen. So I went. They had me put gauze on the uper gum part hold it there like a duck for almost 10 min or longer. He came in looked at it told me do it again. they got it to stop. He said hold it there still till I get my supervisor to look before we send you home. I a, waiting I see him filling this needle with something?? He comes into the room were I am waiting with 3 other people. I absolutley go crazy now because I don't like needles and I was scared he didn't say nothing about needles. I am screaming you tricked me. The nurses had to calm me down and tell me what was about to happen I freaked out this was some kind of medicine that they shoot in your gum like novicane which I hate also. But it is suppose to make the blood vessles form together to eliminate the bleeding. Dam did it hurt. I was mad. But the stuffed worked. I am just worried because I don't want nothing to happen like that again when I go to have these last two top ones removed next month. But yes once these two are gone it is going to alter my apperence and I work in a day care so I can't wait to get my plate. They wanted to take all the top ones out at once and I wouldnt let them I said we can do a few at a time. They don't put you to sleep it would of been diffent if they did. I had my 4 wisdom teeth out at the age 15 and was put to sleep. Yeah if you think your apperence is going to be a problem then go for the partial. If not then I think you should be okay. Good luck to you....

That is a good thing that you got your tooth pulled now it will not hurt you.I ve never got my front tooth pulled but I did have 4 teeth pulled at once.I never got a replacement that is because i could not afford too and you could not see them.If you can aford it and it makes you feel real uncomfortable to the point that you will not smile then I would get them fixed.

A large chunck of one of my teeth broke off and i had to have the dentist pull it out. There was just not enough left of the tooth to get it fixed. Yuk! This was the first tooth that I have actually lost. I am sorry that now I do not have my dentist anymore. He had to retire, since he got old and his legs hurt him so much with arthritis that he had trouble walking around and taking care of teeth. It is bad to get old.

First, I do everything I can to avoid pulling a tooth. I know that not everyone can afford that and times are tough, sometimes you have to decide between keeping a tooth and paying the mortgage. I recently had to spend $950 on a root canal but it was worth it. I'll be eating in poverty mode for a few months, though. I have a great dentist! I love that guy, I've never had anyone like him. I'm so sorry you think you look like a pumpkin. You should get a partial if it bothers you so much. You dentist may have something called Care Credit--you can charge your dental work and take a year to pay it with no interest. Ask him about that. That's how I was able to get my root canal.
