When you're sleepy, but don't yet want to go to bed...?

When you're tired, but don't quite want to go to bed yet, do you ever hop on the computer OR watch TV OR do something else, claiming you will go to bed in half hour or an hour or whenever... Then hours pass by and you suddenly realize you're no longer tired yet need to get some sleep for work or school in the morning?
This has happened to me countless times. You'd think I would have learned my lesson by now!

Well i am an insomniac. i rarely sleep, i am lucky if i get 3 hours of sleep at a time, but when i need sleep i know it is important to get it. A trick my dr taught me was to bring a notebook with me to bed. After i lay down and get comfy I make a list of things pouring through my head of stuff i still needed to do. With the list I feel like i am getting organized and make a promise to knock as much off this list as i can the next day. unless its a health issue, or something that absolutely cannot wait until i wake up, i put the list away and go to bed. if i still cant sleep i put on a channel that has something boring on it (something that does not peak my interests) and pass out from boredom. LOL. I hope this technique may help one of you.
Heck, it also gives you a to do list for the next day LOL
(or if you are lucky a Honey Do list hahahah)

LOL You're too funny! Those are some good ideas. I have also suffered with horrible insomnia since I was a young girl. Maybe this will help! Thanks for the tips.

The story of my life there! It seems I tend to have way too much going on in my head to actually facilitate any kind of sleep.
It seems I have too much to do and very little time to do them all.
Seems only when its time get going and beging the day is when your begin to get tired.!!! How freaked out is that?"

Yes!This happens to me too some years back. Now I have learned to manage my time and I will not mess up things anymore.Actually sitting infront of the computer or a tv causes this, because they are visual in nature. So,it is always good to stop watching tv or computer before 2 hours to bed. That will solve such problems.Cheers!

Yes It has happened with me many times.
I used to watch TV when I am tired after studies but if I continue to watch it for certain limit then I will never feel sleepy.
I think it is because while sleeping there is a particular period in the night when we feel sleepy after that period you will not feel sleepy.
I have experienced this thing many times.
Now also if I will watch a movie when I am sleeping then I will not feel sleepy for some time.

it happens to me all the time. if i know i have to get up for work really early in the morning, and there is a good movie, i ALWAYS want to watch the rest of the movie. and of course it doesnt get over until 330 a.m., so im completely exhausted when i have to wake up at 7!

Don't have that problem on the computer as I have limited time anyway, but TV is dangerous for me and I push myself to stay awake sometimes, problem is I'm getting older now so I actually fall asleep and my wife wakes me at 5am in the morning to come to bed.....whoops!

for me it is usually jumping into bed and just watching tv for awhile. i do not have much down time or relaxation so that does it for me. i look forward to watching some of the shows i record on my DVR during the day so i like to catch up on things. reading would put me to sleep and i doubt i would absorb much of what i was reading at that point in the day anyway.

Oh that happens to me a lot of times too!! Usually if I don't want to go to bed yet I just end up mylotting. Time flies and I would find myself sleeping late late at nights. Sometimes I just a read book or try to cross-stitch for a while until I feel like I wanted to sleep already.
The other day I just bought a puzzle about a thousand pieces and I plan to work on it every night before going to bed. Maybe just solve a few pieces every night so I will go to bed smiling hehe.
Ciao!

Most of the time that I'm sleepy, I still want to postpone it. I disturb the urge to retire by reading novels or watch TV. I do this often that's why sometimes I wake up late in the morning. it really affects how I work the following morning too. Now my sleeping pattern is disturbed.

I experience it once. and i never repeated it again. My eyebags are getting bigger and bigger because of lack of sleep. and my mother kept on scolding me about that. So I've learned my lesson too. I just use the computer at broad daylight.XD
