STOP PIRACY! That's what we always see in tv adds. But come to think of it, pirated dvd's are much cheaper and some has the same qualities with those of the original. But is it worth buying them? Or your just contributing you money helping those illegal activities continuing with their diabolical schemes...
What do you think?

Unfortunately, people are buying them because they think that they can save money but actually they are not.
It's not about the quality of the DVD but the money being lost by producers, artists, etc. They are the ones killing the entertainment industry.
Piracy is stealing. No more, no less.

I partially agree with you. But try to look at the lifestyles of artists and the producers and whoever is involved in the movie production. If we are to compute their earnings, they belong to a bracket of having high pay per hour of work. How much are the teachers or a store manager of Jollibee is paid per hour while doing their tough jobs? How much are we paying the doctors and the nurses? Thus, given that piracy is stealing, it's really hard to condemn the perpetrators. The movie industry can make the prices of original DVDs and CDs affordable to the market, but they never did and don't want to.

Yup! That's what our entertainment industry is really trying to put it, that they are losing money because of piracy. But for me, even if there ain't pirated dvd's or cd's, I still wouldnt buy those original stuff coz they are way very expensive. I rather used my money to buy food to satisfy my stomach.

Yeah, i prefer the pirated ones. They are cheaper than the original so i can buy more. I always keep in mind that it would not last long unlike the original so, extra care is required to keep it in good condition. I also buy original when I can afford. I recommend that the pirated dvd's that are collected by omb should be given to poor people instead of crashing it lol.=p

IF only that were true, that if there is a little difference between pirated and original dvds, then of course I would go for the original one cause its the real thing, better quality than the pirated ones. But that is only IF, well in reality, its not. When I look at the original dvds, cost about P500-P800 here, some even P1,000.00 plus, sucks. Pirated dvds here cost about P40.00 and can buy 3 for P100. Compare the price, and its way far from each other.

When it comes to quality, for sure the original DVDs are better. However, I don't think the difference between the quality of the original and a pirated copy is worth the difference in the price of the two. I mean, the original copies are priced too high that it makes me wonder why the movie can't bring it a little lower. Is it really fair that the producers, artists and anyone involved in the movie and DVD copy production to price their goods that high? For sure if they just lower the prices more, I don't think production of pirated copies will be as widespread as we have today.
It is true that those who buy pirated DVD copies are supporting an illegal activity. But what can we do? Original DVDs costs too much and movie theater entrance are not that affordable either. And when we buy original copies, are we not in a way feeding other people's greediness too? How much are the actors and the actresses paid in making a movie? How much do their managers make? How much did the movie producers earn just from showing the movies? Can't they do not do something to help lower down the price of original DVD copies?

I agree with that! Those entertainers already have so much and yet, they would sell there products way too expensive without looking at the situation of our fellow citizens. Just look at how much the majority is having with their work. Its a harder work and yet, small salaries. Maybe those entertainment industries and businessmen should also consider our situations if the really care about entertaining us.

I totally agree to all of you! I can't afford those darn costly DVDs. I used to buy pirated DVD from my suki in Northmall but now, even my budget can't afford it so I simply download movies from Youtube or through torrents

Hi jankar good day to you my kababayan. Honestly speaking sometimes i buy Pirated D.V.D. Because the cost of it is very affordable and sometimes the quality of it is also the same with the original. Even though buying this kind of products are not good in our economy because they do not share tax with the government, that my cause free from tax and there is no contribution with the increase of economy rate. I think people do not know this reason which is very important especially nowadays that we are making hard just to increase the economy of our country. But i think we can not blame those people because some of people do not have enough money to buy or to afford some original D.v.D. Which is the reason why they buy pirated D.v.d. With this matter i can say that the Filipino are showing their practicality. But the truth is we must really arrest those people who are involved in making pirated d.v.d. and if that thing will happen, there would be no more pirated d.v.d.and the original will be in the top of the market. Then our economy will increase due to the tax that are involved with those D.V.D. movies.
I think in the other rich country many of the people do not sell, those pirated things because they know that there is no benefits when selling that things, that's why they only sell those original product. Especially when it comes to gadget they really do not sell those pirated gadget because it is very easy to be broke and sometimes it may cause accident especially in your house, that sometimes it may cause fire that burn your own house. But if the product is good and original, it may long because of the good durability that it have not like other pirated gadget and with original you are really far away from accident because it is accident free and very safe to be use. Well, that's all my response with your discussion entitled "pirated d.v.d's do you prefer them or the original one." i hope i give a good response! Happy posting to us and happy earning! Good day and God bless us always! ! !

Yes your right there. That is why it is called illegal because it violates many of our country's laws. But as you can see also, tax in our country is way too high now, which makes all of our goods here very expensive, makes the poor even poorer and the rich even richer. I'm not trying to say that piracy is good, but as you can see in our current situation, people are really to forced to buy this stuff because of our poverty. Is'nt it sickening? Its the corrupt government and greedy businessmen that should be put to blame on this...

I'd go for an original one. I don't mind the price at all just as long as it works good and it serves its purpose well. It's not unfamiliar that pirated ones are a lot cheaper, but why would I spend on something of low quality if I can just add a bit more to buy one with good quality?
Buying pirated CDs doesn't just throw your money - they also destroy the careers of the people behind the production involved in the making of these good movies or CDs we buy. We should think of it that way.

I don't really like to go with the piracy thing, but it's difficult to overlook them since they're quite cheaper and most with the same quality as originals have. I know it's hurting the movie industry so much, but they should trim down incomes of these movie stars as well if they'd really want to eliminate piracy.
They spend so much on glamor that's why these movies are expensive to make, not to mention that going to the theater is really expensive as well. We'd settle for piracy at least you watch them at the comforts of your home and you can watch them over and over again.
Perhaps if they could lower the prices of movie tickets, I guess people would rather watch it in the theater than on pirated DVD if they were a lot cheaper.

Most of us do not want to patronize these pirated cd's and dvd's but the fact is that originals cost a lot. So the common Juan dela cruz can't afford the original so he settle for the pirated stuff.
I think the best way to eliminate this is to lower the cost of these items so that the common man can afford this.

Well I third the motion there! Hahah just kidding. Yup! prices are really an issue here especially that we are all experiencing an economic crisis in our country. If they'll lower the price, then of course I'd go for the original one since it is the real quality of the movie and no longer helping the illegals with their business. Besides, there's no way that we'll be watching the same movie over and over again. So why waste your money on expensive ones when there are the cheaper ones?

I still buy originals for my most favorite movies. There is still nothing compared to actually holding a piece of item that is original. I used to buy original DVDs for my favorite movies, but now I stopped because I now only buy original BluRays for my fav movies. I still agree that to be competitive, originals should be priced lower to entice people to buy them. For all other movies, I just borrow or wait for the movie to air on HBO =)

Actually I do not have that budget too to buy pirated dvd's or cd's that are sold on the public markets. I'm using the net to be entertained not only on illegal ways but also legal ways of watching or downloading films, movies and music that are cool and worth to watch and listen to.
Although, to some point that they are much cheaper rather than buying the original ones. What you will you do if you don't have that big money to buy it even its a famous one and your interests.
