During my ESL teaching course, one of my students asked me that when we would say "excuse me", after the sneeze or before the sneeze? that seemed to be an easy question, but i feel i am at a loss. LOL. not quite sure about it, say "excuse me"after the sneeze?

Hello there xoyyox. I think excuse me should be said before sneezing because it means that you are excusing yourself for something that you will do. When you didn't say excuse me before then its good to say sorry since you've done it already. But i guess, it depends on the person's point of view since some of us believe that saying excuse me after is alright than saying it before.

My sneezes come most of the time unexpectedly and fast. So invariably i let my self sneeze and then say excuse me. Had it been the other way, i don't think i would communicate the excuse me too well.
