Unfortunately I have a sleeping disorder. I always go to bed at the same time because my doctors say that even though I am not sleeping my body is resting. So I go to bed at 11pm, but as far as the hours I sleep it varies from 3-5 hours, and the rest of the time I spend just laying in bed with my mind racing, and I get up around 5am.

Laying on bed is again very harmful thing. So change this habit.

If you lay in bed for more then 8 hours then that is harmful but not if you lay in bed for 8 hours or less. I have been to a sleeping disorder clinic and this is what the doctor told me to do, and so did my therapist as well as my husband agrees who is a psychologist. If you lay in bed longer then 8 hours that can cause depression. I am not depressed, I am a happy healthy person thank God. Thanks though for your response.

Ideally one should sleep for 8 hours a day. But, it is also influenced by other factors like the type of work you do, strenuous activities, if taking medications or having some disease or not (like insomnia). I sleep around 1 o'clock at night and get up around 7 am in the morning. In the afternoon, I prefer to take a nap, it feels refreshing...

i may sleep 7 -9 hours .but not once in night. i will sleep in night for 5,6 hours and in morning again i will sleep for 2,3 hours .
i will sleep lately in night at 1 am or 2 am and in morning i will wake up at 6.30am and after preparing breakfast for my husband, i will sleep again for 2,3 hours .anyway i can balance my sleeping hours ,by sleeping more than 7 hours at any time.

Hello neerajpandey_13,
I don't have a regular hour of sleep because I changed my work hour every month. I am on shifting. If I can get 5 hours or more sleep per day I am ok except maybe on the second shift where I go home at around 12am. In this shift I need more than 5 hours and so I take some nap in the afternoon before going to work at 3PM. A few minutes of nap will do.
Regards.

I have strange sleeping habits,so says a friend of mine. I stay up late at night.......usually until 2am, and sleep until 10 to 11 in the morning. I usually sleep 8 hours, unless the phone starts ringing before that, which it usually does, or I have an early appointment that I will get up for. For example, my "friend" who tells me I have the strange sleeping habits has invited me out to lunch tomorrow. Now I will have to rearrange things slightly to meet HIS schedule so I can be at his place to pick him up around 11am, which is HIS lunch time!! lol That will work for me and I told him that I would work around HIS schedule since he was inviting me and I really am very flexible. Probably moreso than he is!!

Honestly I admit I don't really like my sleeping habits recently; it's getting very late at night when i go to bed. This so because i still have to wait and watch my favorite tv program (Forensic Files) w/c usually aired at 11pm down to 2am sometimes. And i have to wake up early at 7:30 am so am getting a very small amount of sleep that is only 5 or 6 hours at d utmost. Am really planning to have some sleeping discipline for myself soon.
For me I still believe an 8-hour sleep at night is best for the body, but even if I can only have at least 7 of it then I guess I'll be very fine w/ it. Sleep is really important.

I sleep up to eleven hours but sometimes only eight hours. I sleep at night from 10:00 pm to 6:00 in the morning. I also take naps on the afternoon. I think that my sleeping was only normal. How about the others? Share your thoughts...=)

I guess I might sleep for about 7 to 8 hours. If I go to bed to early I will wake up in the middle of the night. then I help to get on my computer.

Waking up again at midnight is not good for you. You must need to improve this habit. Break during sleep is not good.

I suffer from Chronic Fatigue due to my fibromyalgia. I usually sleep around 8 to 12 hours a day, depending on how I'm feeling. I seem to always wake between 8 & 9, even on those days that I "plan" to sleep later. Usually I'm not feeling good by around 8PM so I lay in bed for a few hours watching TV or reading before I do fall asleep.

I don't sleep that whole 8 hours. I wake up and look at the clock A LOT. Plus, chronic fatigue has nothing to do with how many hours of sleep you get. Even if I sleep 8 hours, there are A LOT of days that I only feel as though I've slept 3 or 4.

I guess everybody's sleeping habits are different and they are normal to them. It just depends on who you are and your body, some people can function fine on just 4 or 5 hours of sleep, some can't if they get too much sleep, we're all different. I usually get about 8 to 9 hrs. I go to bed at 11pm, but we lay there watching tv till 12 then we'll turn it off, and I'm usually up around 9am, my husband gets up earlier for work. Sometimes tho, I wake up off and on during the night, sometimes I'll be having weird dreams and they keep me awake, and the next day I'll feel tired. I don't ever nap during the day tho, I have to be really sick and not feeling good to take a nap.

It depends on the days. When i'm in the army, lots of the days that i'm there I barely sleep 4 hours in a day. Sometimes I even don't sleep for days. Saturdays in the army are the best time to complete those missing sleep hours. When I get back home, then I sleep like king. Sleeping in my bed is the best feeling ever!

Hi neerajpandey, I would love to sleep for about 7-8 hours each night. But unfortunately i never seem to get enough sleep at a stretch. I sleep for about 6 hours at the most. It is healthy if you can sleep for about 7-8 hours each night undisturbed..
