Where and what price did you get your puppy? I got my current puppy at a town about an hour away. I was looking for a labrador and looked at the classified post section and found a labrador breeder phone number then I called immediately and went straight to the plact to meet my puppy^_^. I just loved him of the first sight I saw him, he was like a ball (I added an image that you can see below) and looked very healthy, I played with him at the place and he ran like a bounching ball, I still deeply remember that how cute he was(he always is hehe^_^) Then I bought him for 700 bucks which is way cheap than I expected. Then my hubby drove, I sat at the back sit with him, he was nervous and winning for a while. We taught him how to housebroken first and just observed how he was doing the first day.
I feel really happy to have bought him and he is a very healthy boy - and I tihnk it is fate. I love my puppy!^_^ What is your story of getting your puppy?

Think about it, when people buy a dog or puppy they think of the cost of the dog or puppy at that time, not, at the cost over the lifetime of the pet..
I bought my Bouvier, male approx. 10 years ago for the price of $1000. about 8 to 9 hrs drive away from my house.. He had the exact lines I was looking for and would have travelled days to get him if needed. If purchased today at curancy exchange approx 4x, I would still have purchased him..He is a very large dog, to tall for show, but, everyone that sees him agrees he is the best around..
At his age for the breed he is getting to the end of lifespan, but , the old saying best that money can buy...I luv my big boy.. he luvs me more..

My first dog was pricey like yours, she was a toy maltese. So...yeah, that was a given. She was really tiny and fit in one hand. My 2nd puppy was given to us from our neighbor, but she's just really precious and we love her hehehe.

I don't actualy have a dog but my moms dog passed away and she wanted another but she wanted a full blooded German Sheperad.
Me and my brother found a woman who is a breeder of them. She didn't live very far either. So we bought the dog off her for almost $500 dollars or so.
She is a retired officer who breeds german sheperads.

German Shepard has pretty cool looking, my friend got a German Shepard a year ago for more than a grand... so your deal was way cheaper! Is it big? My friend's one is HUGE like a bear, I'm not kidding especially he is all black, when he jumps, he is definitely like a bear!

My 3 year old pit bull was found wandering the streets of Louisiana when she was 5 months old. She is brown and white, and at the time, had a pink nose with black freckles. The freckles have since grown in and her nose is black, but she is still the most gorgeous and best dog I've ever had.
My lab was adopted from a lab rescue at 3 months old - she was the last in a litter of ten puppies to be adopted! She is short-bus special, but I love her just the same. I paid $75 for her, I think.
I only rescue or adopt shelter dogs. I have a soft spot for those animals that will be killed if they don't get adopted. My dogs are the luckiest, most spoiled, and most loved dogs on the planet! :) They are my fur-kids, and I love them from the depths of my very soul.

You are very right and very kind. I'm like you, I don't like to hear or see poor, stray, hurts animals, I can get emotional and like want to get them home to save them. But unfortunately, I'm not financially capable to adopt lots of dogs and I'm sure I would need an amount of money to take care of vet bills...
I wanted to adopt a labrador at the animal shelter before I got my puppy too, I went to couple animal shelter but I didn't see any that looks healthy :-( I felt very sick after visiting the animal shelter actually... so I decided to buy one.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I will take in the dog and nurse it back to health. I rescued a toothless pit bull two years ago that was an abuse case. He was only 20 lbs when I adopted him from the shelter, and I fostered him for about two months. He had no teeth from chewing on rocks out of boredom and hunger. His former owner got 6 months in jail though! Yay!
I found him a home with a girl in Ohio. She loves him dearly, and he now weighs 60lbs! :) I still have him on my screensaver at work. He will be in my heart forever. I, too, don't have the finances to rescue a bunch of dogs. And I don't have a husband that tolerates me fostering either. So I do rescue transporting.

I got mine from a local show breeder who does all the appropriate health testing. Took me over a year to research which breeder I liked best and he costed 1000€ but it was well worth it. I'll definately do that again when getting my second dog.

Okay my mom and I had been discussing getting a puppy for my sisters birthday. It was around the same time last year. Anyway we discussed it on and on for a while. My sister said that was all she wanted. So my mom agreed only if it was a small puppy preferably a chihuahua. Well around a week before my sisters birthday we found a lady selling them for fifty a piece without papers. Which is hard to find. We dont need papers so we called. She only had two left. We took the female. My sister was so happy to get a puppy. We have had the dog now for nearly a year. She was born April 21st. Although i hate the dog barking all the time she is a sweet dog.

We got our dog from our relatives, My uncle.
He sold the dog to us for only 10Pesos. lol I think that's only for a good luck belief that instead of giving it completely at least we should lent him a buck or less in return ^_~

I have a Shih Tzu named Swiffer. I had been looking for a toy breed dog for a while and could not decide which one I wanted. Then I started watching the AKC dog show reruns on Animal Planet and fell in love with the Shih Tzu. I actually will be breeding them in the future, but want to do the conformation and agility stuff first. Anyway, when I finally decided which breed I wanted, I spent the next three months looking for a good one from a reputable breeder, as opposed to a puppy mill or pet store. I finally found one online and saw pictures of my puppy. I drove down to get her two weeks later. I paid $850 for the puppy, but in the few months that I have had her, I already have about $1,500 into her. She is adorable and loves to please. She had been very easy to train and I am glad that I took the time to find the "perfect" dog instead of buying on impulse. She gets along with my cats and my kids.

A friend of my father gave us a dog then a few years later she gave birth, we kept two puppies and gave to friends whom we know can take care of the rest of the puppies. Right now we got three newborn puppies. We would like to keep one and give the rest to our friends. They keep on asking for them, we're giving them for free just as long as they be safe and well loved.

I think if my puppy give birth, I couldn't sell or give them to people but at the same time, I don't think I could own them all ...

My husband found our dog at a shelter. I was doing some volunteer work at the local animal shelter and he came by to pick me up. Anyway, he saw this sweet gal outside and we brought her home.
That's a pic of our shephard with our nephew (my husband's sister's kid).

I like shephard too because of the cool looking, big and the loyal personality. When I was debating what dog to get before getting my dog, I thought about shepard but for the reason that I will need to pay the extra insurance so I didn't get it. If I was in my home country, it will be my top3 considerations since I wouldn't need to buy insurance for getting the type of dog.
Your dog looks big! Look at her paw! WOW, I like big dog, hopefully, my lab will grow bigger...

We always get our dog for free. We live in a little village, and if anyone needs a new puppy, the neighbours give each other happily. That is how we got our as well. He is a nice , white dog. Unfortunatelly is is quite old, more than 13 yrs old. I have a feeling, that we will loose him soon.
