I prefer desktop computers myself as it's easier to open them up and "work" on them. Adding things and removing things I think is way easier with a desktop computer.
I wouldn't mind a laptop, but I definitely want certain specs that a lot of laptops just don't have yet.

I have had the same dilemma myself lately. My laptop is too old to use and my desktop really needs updating also but I can't do both. I thought about it and came up with my answer and yours might be the same if you do most of your work at home.
I do all my work at home and rarely need to work from a laptop only although if I had a usable one it would be convenient. After thinking about it I decided the desktop had to come first since laptops have some disadvantages. For one the keyboard is rarely one that is easy to use. For two the built in mouse pad is aggravating to no end so I would have to have an external mouse. Third if I want to update the RAM or anything, the laptop is not so easy to update as the desktop is and is more expensive on the parts.
If you are going to do your work or access your computer mainly at home then I would recommend the desktop first. The only way I would get the laptop first is if I have to be mobile while working.

A Laptop is my first preference because the most remarkable advantage of it is portability. So if there is any problem I could at least show the technician immediately.

I prefer desktop because I am using desktop for a long period of time. I think laptops are good for people who travel a lot and people who are businessman. If you watch movies or work a lot then you can buy desktops. Also if you don't want to move your computer from one place to another then go for desktops.

Desktop because it is more cheaper than laptop if you want to have a gaming hardware specs. Even though it is not portable and light but for maximum speed and performance, computer desktop can offer that or more. Well it really depends on the user which she or he needs the most. But as far as I know I am more into computer desktop.

hi there...the choice between a desktop and a laptop generally depends upon ur lifestyle and where u r going to use it...for games and movie watching a desktop is generallly preferable whereas if u want it to carry around doing ur work or for surfing while on the move the laptop is generally a bette option..
i prefer a laptop coz it's portable and it has more flaunt value than a desktop....
