My mom got me this junky bike when I was about 5 and I had the hardest time with it and I didn't do it cause I was always afraid of tipping over. When I got to be about 11 my uncle got a few bikes he was going to resell and one was a "bananna seat" and I just got on it and I was riding that day without training wheels. It's been a real long time since I've ridden.

I have no idea if it was balance or confidence in my ability to learn how to do it.

Well lets just say riding a bicycle comes naturally to you.

That is really amazing maybe you had a lot of balance already so you didnt need training.

Hi Pratik! This discussion made me sad. Bicycling is the only thing I tried and tried and tried and I couldn't learn till now in my life....now I am 26 years old.I do a lot of other sports, I know swimming.... no bicycle. Two weeks ago also my husband was tring to teach me atleas he got tired. I couldn't balance. It is very very sad.

I don't care if it hurts. The problem is with the balance. When my husband leaves his hand and let me go, I will go for only 2 senconds and then bend the cycle and fall down. I don't know what to do for it. I think I should practice in a three wheeler cycle first.

What you mean three wheeler? That is going a step backwards. Do you mean extra wheel on the cycle?

I am sorry my discussion made you sad. But it is hard to comprehend why you cannot ride a bike if you are fine at doing other sports like swimming. All that it requires is balance. Maybe you have some kind of fear of falling or something. Sit and think about the reason why you are unable to do it maybe it will help. Sorry again. Take care.

I was about 7 years old, when I learned how to ride a bicycle. I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure that I was 7. I have a few memories of learning how to ride a bike.

I'd have to say that they're good memories. They're certainly not painful or bad memories.

I was 20 years old when i've learned to ride a bicycle, funny but true.. i've had a bad experience when i was a kid that's why.. i was hit by a bike and the worse was when my toe was stucked inside the wheel.. it was bleeding terribly that's why my mom decided to rush me to the emergency room.. good thing, the x-ray examination was okay.. i didn't break a bone..

I think i was ten years old that time. I was still in elementary school. My mother and my brother guided me to learnt how to ride a bicycle. I had to fall down on the ground few times and hitted everything ahead before i was good on riding it.lol. Fortunately, it only took about two months to handle it.

Yes that is how one learns how to ride a bike by falling and hitting everything in the way. But you had help and still took two weeks to learn it. Thanks for the reply. Happy mylotting.

lol, i think it's an acceptable age to learn how to ride a bike. I mean it's just riding a bike, nothing important, so you don't have to be embarassed for not knowing how to at an older age. I learnt how to ride a bike at age 12 and that is also done by practicing everyday on the bike my dad brought home from somewhere where it's right brake wasn't working ^_^ lol
@pratik87 (1927)

14 Apr 09
You say that because even you didnt learn it early enough. Brakes are not such an important part of a bike i think we can always use our legs as breaks right. Thanks for the response. Happy mylotting.

I learned when I was around 9 or 10 years old. I had a mean sister, she told me that she would help me learn, she helped alright, when I got on the bike everything was alright for a while. Then my sister pushed me out in the road and told me that I better peddle.

I learnt to ride when I was six. It was my father that taught me, without the training wheels (never try those...) After a couple of painful 'accident', I managed to ride. I don't remember the last time I ride a bicycle. With work piling up and more things to do, I don't even have time touch a bicycle. Must be fun to ride one now.

Yes it is always fun to ride a bicycle. But if you are busy then you can ride a bicycle in your exercise time (if you do exercise that is) as it is a very good form of exercise as well. Thanks for replying. Happy mylotting.

I was 10 years old when i learned to ride a bicycle. My cousin scolded me like anything for not learning bicycle. I was riding for two days under her support and suddenly on the third day , she left me and i started riding on my own. Now, i had the problem of turning. I can go straight in a bicycle and cannot turn , as i used to fall while turning. Then , after a week , i started turning and i had learned the art of cycling.
