For years I washed my face with just a warm towel. Every other day I used a cleanser on like Ambi or Noxzema. Well yesterday I went to the dermatologist because my face had broke out and was very itchy. The first thing he asked me was "How do you wash your face?" I told him with a warm cloth nothing else. He told me you must wash your face with soap. So all these years I thought soap was to heavy for my face and causes dryness. It is true you do learn something new everyday. So my friends how do you wash your face?

I wash my face with a tiny bit of St Ives Apricot scrub face wash, i like it because it exfoliates my face and makes it feel soft. And i only use a tiny bit so it doesnt dry out too much but if it does feel dry I do sometimes use a moisturizer afterwards too.

Be careful with St Ives Apricot scrub, I used to use it for a few years. I then had several dermatologist warn me to stop using it. The reason is because the Apricot seeds are too rough and can actually tear the skin. They said I could use a scrub as long as it was man made and therefore the beads would be perfect circles. St Ives has an elements line which is a lot better.

For many years I used Ivory bar soap. I still use it, but I also use an exfoliating scrub twice a week. To change it up, I also use a face wipe by Olay. This is a dry cloth that when you wet it foams up and you wash your face. Then you rinse the cloth out and use it to rinse your face. The side you use to wash with has little bumps in it so it also exfoliates.

Not long before my face have suffered the same like yours. So i stopped to use anything on my frail face and do you know what happened? After several days' rest my face recovered, precisely better than before. So i decide to use face cream at regular intervals, approximately three days one time. You'd better listen to your doctor.

i used to use a simple soap everyday to wash my face everyday but that used to make my skin very dry, but then i realized that soap i meant only for body not face. not i use dove or pears everyday to wash my face and keep it clean and clear.

Like you, for years it was only a warm wash cloth and then I started using a daily cleanser on it about two months ago. Biggest mistake I made! I started breaking out terribly! I usually only get one or two pimples and that is only during that fun time of the month, but I was breaking out way more then that with the cleanser. I even tried several doctor recommended cleansers, still terrible! So now, I am back to just a warm wash cloth and surprise surprise, no break outs! :)

Hi there!
In cleaning my face I use facial wash and water. First I splash lukewarm water on my face to open up the pores then lather some facial wash. After thorough lathering I cleanse it with lukewarm water again following up with a cold water to close back the pores.
I think some soap bars can dry the skin so you have to be careful in choosing soap to clean your face. I guess you have to look for the most delicate soap bars and read the labels well if it's meant for our faces.
Ciao!

jep you might get a reaction from the cleanser. I find it strange that a dermatologist would recommend soap, but it probably is better for a rash than chemicals. soap will cause dry skin so you might want to use a daycreme too.

I also wash mine with soap. Sometimes I will use Noxzema but yeah it is okay to do that. I myself sometimes just use water because my skin is very senstive, as for learning something new everyday, I would say Yep it happens. That is the beauty of learning to me you can learn something new everyday. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

I am pretty obsessed when it comes to my skin care. If I slack even for one night I will notice my skin will start to break out. My ALL time favorite skin care brand is Philosophy. It is the best quality and is not to bad in price when you purchase the big sizes or buy the whole kits.
The best cleanser in the world is Purity Made Simple by Philosophy . It is not drying and removes every drop of makeup. You can even rub this stuff in you eyes and it does not burn. I also use their Microdelivery scrub to exfoliate.
I could never ever use just plain bath soap on my face it would break out in a second.
