Do you park your car in your garage?

Stupid question you might ask...but I think you will be surprised to see the answer to this one. I was watching DIY the other day and they were doing this show about wasted spaces and cleaning out a garage...
The statistics are like 55% of homeowners dont park there car in the garage because there is so much stuff out there!!!
We have a 1 car garage...and yet not one ounce of space in there could I fit a car.......there fore I am part of that statistic and do not park my car in a garage.
This is not a problem during summer but a major pain in the winter when I have to clear off my car.... or scrap the ice off it is even worse!!!
so are you part of the statistic and cant park your car in your garage....or do you get the luxury of parking your car in the garage?

I haven't got one any more, a garage that is. I've got a car and it sits parked out on the road just like it would if I did have a garage. That's why I haven't got one.
In the place I lived I rented one and it ended up that I couldn't get my car into it for the garbage that I had accumulated there. So when I moved here I decided not to rent one - and I manage just the same and save too!

If I had a garage then when I clean up in the house a lot of stuff would end up there. This way it goes straight to the bin!

I am glad for the storage of my garage since I dont want all that stuff in the house, and theres no room for it either... this year I think we need to go through a bunch of it and just decide what to keep and what not to.
thanks for responding.

We had tons of junk stored in our 2 car garage so I had to park it outside. But there are alot of thieves around here and they like to steal gas out of your gas tank at night so I wasn't sleeping well at night. WE ended up having a garage sale and sold 95% of our junk just so that I can fit my car in the garage. Now I sleep through the night with no worries because i know my car is safe!

We do park our car in our garage, it's more safe. In our neighborhood, it's not too safe to park a car outside the garage, especially if there's no fence and no security near our house.
At least we can sleep well at night knowing that our car is safe and sound in our garage :)

Funny you should ask...we didn't have room until a few weeks ago when we bought me a new 2009 Honda Pilot and I MADE room in our garage for it!!
I held a garage sale and got rid of a bunch of stuff. Then I called some organization that gives stuff to homeless and unfortunate people to come get what didn't sell. I was determined to fit that car in there! My hubby's car does not fit though. The mower has to go somewhere!

i do use our garage for parking space. but we don't have own car. but if our relatives need a car space then ours is very much available. and so now our relative are parking their car in our garage. i hate when others park their cars on the street cause it cause traffic specially in our narrow streets in the city of manila, philippines. if one side of the road has car parked on it, and it is a two way street only one car will be able to pass and so the other car going the other direction will need to give way first before he can pass that road because of those car parked illegally on the street. I just wonder why they are able to afford or buy a car but could not buy a place to park their place. they are causing much traffic. sometimes because of the traffic and there are so many vehicles in the street even i can't pass through between those cars in the street cause there is no space in between in those cars to walk through the street any more. i will just have to stand and wait for them to pass through before any pedestrian able to pass through. this is really so horrible actually.

I have a double garage that can park 2 cars but because I have some other stuff in there too so they are a bit in the way so I can only park 1 car inside and one outside. But hey, I don't have to scape off the ice or clean the snow off my car in the morning before going to work lol!

Hi, i agree with what you say..but things are slightly different in my country. Here in India most people park their cars in garages. We too do that because we live in an apartment and have to park in the reserved spot . I have yet to come across anyone using their garage for any other purpose other than parking..

I wish that I had a garage! I have never lived anywhere where we had a garage. when i was a kid we had one but it was filled with junk! plus the roof leaked and my dad knocked it down and put a metal shed in its place. i think that if we had one we probably wouldn't park our car in it. not that it would be filled with junk but we would use it for something.

We currently do not have a garage, so we don't park in one! lol I can't wait until my fiancee and I have our own house and garage though. I hate parking my car in our apartment complex parking lot. Especially since the people around here do not know how to park. I've had my car door dinged several times. :-(

I would love to park my car in the garage... There is no way that my mini van would fit in there with my husbands crazy amount of weights and real estate signs and...OH I could go on. We have a small house and there is no way that we have enough space for the cars.

We always park in the garage. Sometimes we'll park outside if I have a woodworking project going on that's being built in the middle of the floor, but not too often do we let the car outside overnight. Even though I live in the middle of nowhere, with no close neighbors or anything, I still feel it's safer to keep it in. I pretty much only clean and straighten the garage twice a year...once in the fall before winter sets in, and then in the spring. Most of that though is to change around where the seasonal goods are kept so they are more handy. It's a 2 car garage, so there's lots of space up in the rafters to keep stuff up off the floor. Plus I built lots of heavy shelving along the one wall to keep it organized better. I have to agree lol, it's real easy to end up having wasted space by sticking all kinds of stuff in the garage simply because there's no room inside the house for it!

I store bales of hay in my garage as well as a bunch of supplies for the guinea pig rescue, so there is no room for the car. Although, it doesn't snow here or get very cold. Where it does, the ice can actually cause your car some damage and it will definitely need a new coat of paint much faster (although I'm the type of person who would sell the car way before that anyway).

I'm not surprised at all. I don't have a garage but growing up, my parents did and the car was never ever in the garage...too much junk. All our neighbors were the same. It never occured to me that garages were actually for parking cars until I met a couple that used their garage for it's intended purpose. When with my ex, we had a house that had a garage and it was used to store bikes and tools and the boat...motorcycle.....never the car. So add me to the statistic list.
