australia have some good players right now like ricky pointing, michele clarke, mike hussey.brett lee and some new players like brad haddin, david hussey, peter siddle, cullum fergusan.the new player are maturing game by game.so,the australian team will give a hard competition to the other team in 2011 world cup?

Australia is still a good team, only their level dropped a bit. I was watching the ODI between SA and Australia and I felt that the Aussie openers were not like their predecessors (Gilchrist and Hayden).

Ricky ponting has not actually played well for sometime now and the only reason one can think of why he is in the australian team is that he is the captain. The main thing to look at is that the next world cup will be in the sub continent and these new players do not have any experience of playing in the subcontinent. The last time when the australian team came to india for the test series none of the bowlers had played before in india not even brette lee and it will not be easy for the new guys even if they play a couple of series in srilanka and india before the world cup. They may have won the champions trophy in india which they had never won before but there is no chance they will win the next world cup in the sub continent.

They need one more good opener & the bowlers other than Mitchell Jhonson.Mike Hussey's form is declining & so is Ponting's.Brad Haddin is just a Wicket Keeper who can bat in bits. You never can imagine Michael Clarke to be consistent. So its too early to say anything about Australia as of now.

Yeh i think they will develop well by the time the world cup comes around. theyve got some great talent, but they have to start developing them into a world cup winning side.
