It's been a really sad day here. Rookie pitcher Nick Adanhart was killed by a hit and run driver just hours after his debut game with the Angels (I think he was called up for a few games last year but not as a starter). He was 22 years old. The Angels postponed tonight's game. Watching the news I see that four families have been affected by this tragedy.
Life is so fragile. I made it a point to call my daughter, tell her I loved her and to please be careful on the road. Are you counting your blessings, my friends?

ITA. It was heartbreaking to hear the news about Nick Adanhart. My son is only 2 years younger... LIFE IS SHORT and I am making a point to tell people I love how much they mean to me. I know there is a lot good young careful drivers. Like my son who really cautious but I will let him know what out the the "other" guy.
Its not easy losing someone so suddenly like Nick. I pray God will comfort his family.

I know exactly how you feel. When something like this happens we immediately think of our own kids. My daughter is 20 also, and I called her to tell her I love her and to please be careful while driving. Our kids could be good drivers but look what happened in young Nick's life. I cannot imagine what his parents are going through. I also pray God will comfort this family and that they receive it. But there's a lot of mourning to do. Life is so fragile.

I did hear this story especially since I am a baseball fan and do follow the news. Such a sad story. He had a great career ahead of him and it was taken away. Hope they find the other driver. After seeing the car Adam was riding in, I would think the other car had major damage as well even though it was an suv or van. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I did see his interview right after the game and before the accident. I understand why it's a sad day in LA for the Angels.

They did find the other driver, carolbee. He was also 22 and basically his life is also over. They are charging him with three counts of murder. One of the witnesses to the accident said that the hit and run driver actually cried and said, "why did I do this?" The whole situation is just so sad. I called my daughter right away just to say "I love you." I am counting my blessings.

Yes, he was drunk--all the more pointless. And unfortunately he took three lives and one is still struggling, hanging onto life. I keep praying for him to pull through.

That is very unfortunate to news to hear. It makes us all want to pause dial numbers of loved ones and tell them to drive safe and be cautious since not everyone is. It must have been a hard time for them for sure these last few days.

Every day we need to be thankful for the day, and the time that we have. It does strike us when we hear of celebrities and well known people dying needlessly, as it brings home our own vulnerability. It does make you want to count your blessings.
