Almost everyone has a mobile phone and every mobile phone displays time. So why carry a wrist watch when you can check time on your mobile. Do you think people will stop wearing wrist watches and eventually production of wrist watches will stop. Or is there something which will make people wear it. What are your views and do you have any suggestion for the wrist watch makers.

LOL-- I have neither cell phone nor wrist watch. I haven't worn a watch for decades, no real reason, but just don't feel I need to know the time every single moment. Most places, like stores and such have clocks anyway. As for wrist watches in general though, I don't think they will go out of style. Some people still like the prestige of that expensive type Rolex watch...LOL

I rather wear a regular type of watch rather than a Rolex. Wearing an expensive type of Rolex is like throwing yourself in a den of thieves.

i dont think everyone will stop wearing watches, cause somtimes people wear them as a style, some people feel a sense of emtiness without it cause they're so accustomed to wearing it, like me! i use mine to tell time, i never remember the date or what day it is, so i use that, and when i go to school i somtimes forget my calculator so it comes in handy(somtimes)

Few people do wear them for style. My hand also used to feel empty when I forgot to wear my watch. But after using my mobile to see time. I don't feel like my hand is empty. I have become used to not wearing wrist watches.

Interesting question! Personally I don't see an end to wristwatches. I don't have a cell phone as of yet. I just don't want to become a slave to the phone. But I'm the kind of person that needs to be aware of the time. When on occasions my watch broke I was lost without one, even though one can see the time at other places. The watch is on my wrist all my waking hours. I only take it off when I go to sleep. I personally see that people will continue to wear wristwatches and they do so much more than tell time. Mine has a timer that is very useful to time how long it takes me to get places as I'm always looking for a shorter route. So my advice to wristwatch makers is to continue to add features to the watch and maybe the cell phones will disappear.

Hi vanillarey,
Wristwatches are here to stay for me at least. I think that wristwatches will continue to develop along with us as we all progress. I have a nice natty little wristwatch from Casio it´s not expensive and so far it has been very reliable. Casio makes a great range of wristwatches. I know other Companies do. But these wristwatches are more affordable and reliable and I´m not allergic to the stuff make the wristbands with either.
Wristwatches I can be without one a few hours a day but then I find it great for reference so I´m not late in anything I do.
Yes I believe wristwatches will be around for a long long time.

I'm not sure about distinct, though fewer people are wearing them, there are some like me that simply can't go without one. I may not look at it all day, but I've worn one for so long that i feel naked without it! If I forget it, I find myself looking at my arm all day!

Hello,
I personally don't think they will stop production of the wrist watch, because even though there are a lot of cell phone users out there, it's still quite a few who don't have them. Watches are also for fashion, I have several watches in many colors that I ware with certain outfits. So - No, the wrist watch will stay.
Have a Blessed Easter weekend!

Hi Vanillarey! I don't think the wrist watch will ever be "extinct". They can be very beautiful and women love to wear them to compliment their attire. I think they can make men look very distinguished as well. I think that our need for them is not as much as it used to be because there are so many other ways to tell time but I think that the way they look will keep them around for a while. I don't have a preference of brand but I really like the gold and silver toned ones.

No i don't think that wrist watches will become extinct soon as many companies launch most of the time like fasttrack & etc. with unique designs. Though i prefer mobile more than watches but a wrist watch is what common people more. So it can't be extincted so easily.

I don't really like keeping my cell phone on (you know, radiation and all) so if I want to get to class or to an important event on time, then a watch is more convenient to tell if I still doing fine on time. It can be a pain on a cold winter day, and you have to expose your wrist, but I just keep it in my coat pocket and pull it out for those day. The wristwatch is too classy to stop making.

Probably yes, probably not. Personally, I like wearing a wristwatch. Although there are a lot of gadgets now that can display the current time and date, a wristwatch is still the best for me. I believe it will just improve in terms of design but I kinda doubt it will become extinct.
