Okay it's a holy Friday today so guys what are you doing now?Do you still practice some old beliefs during holy Friday?Like refraining from taking a bath?I remember my late grandmother she tells us not to take a bath during a holy Friday because our ancestors believe that it was the day that Jesus died and we are not allowed of anything that is of pleasure for us because according to my elders Jesus suffered a lot during these day.So what do you think about that?

Hello tipay26, good day to you. We all know that when celebrating the holy week, we must follow our tradition regarding some rules with holy day, which following those rules is already part of our tradition because as i know in our legacy in the history, they were all do that thing in this weekend of especially if it's friday. And as a tradition of our history, as of now we still do and follow this kind of tradition. Well because today is holy friday, my mother told me that i must still and continue eating fish and vegetable except for the meet because they said that if you eat meat there wottld be something that will happen to you. Then as i remember my mother also told me that i must take a bath before the clock goes at the time of 3:00 pm, i only just follow what my mother told me because as i kow if i follow it, nothing will happen wrong with me, that's why i always believed in that matters. And by the way because it is holy week me and my family just stay here in our house because they always told me that this is the time for us to remember GOD and the good thing that GOD done to us and as far as i know, this is the time for us to removed those bad things and to clean our soul. Well, all in all tipay26, i can say that we still continue our belief regarding the this holy week, because following this thing is good because ie we follow it, we will no longer affected with that wich means that nothing is ay fasting most of the people really relaxed, that thing really happen for a good and bad reason thing. Well, that's all my response with your forum topic discussion entitled "it's holy friday?". I'm hoping that with my post, i really give my best just for you to understand the reason. Happy posting and happy earning here in this site mylot. [em]ninja[/b]

I did not know about not taking a bath. When I was young my grandfather would fast on Good Friday, not eat all day until sun down and not eat any meat. Not eating meat was also the custom in our house when I grew up. To this day I feel guilty if I eat meat on good Friday. Yesterday I made a huge pot of vegetarian chili so I will be o.k. today.

Well as for taking a bath I guess that is not practical anymore since it is so hot this day. I do not think that is not offending since God would understand that. Well sacrifices like no eating of meat is the thing that the church recommends each of us are told. Although fasting or abstinence is also ideal but I prefer to follow the no meat diet.

I remember those rules... and my grandmother was very strict about it... but we don't really follow those anymore... except for the not eating pork rule... i have been preparing fish and chicken dishes for days now... which is a good thing because i really want to lessen my pork intake...

Hi there. Well, basically, we still practice abstinence (not eating meat) and I'm planning to skip at least one meal today. Also, we're currently watching the Seven Last Words on TV.

tipay26 thanks for the topic, the only suffer we will do is not meat, we have cheese pizza. We do this every Friday of lent, i have two little guys 5 and 6 and i make them part of it as well. I did grow up old school but do not use a lot of those traditions. I did discuss with little guys last night, this was the day 2009 years ago Jesus was nailed to the cross for us. They did understand and there is a crucifix in their room so it pulled together nicely. Have a great Easter

i have not heard of not taking bath on the good Friday. in fact i have just heard that we have to fast and mourn on a good Friday and pray. you can take bath as many times you want. i don't know what pleasure is there in taking bath.
