I have lately realized that a daughter's role and a mother's role in the faimly are changing, so i started to ask myself question. Does my mother want me to see her as a friend, authority figure, or a mix of both? What do mother's want from their daughters?

A mother is a person having the whole responsibility of a family, Ofcourse she is friendly. But not like a friend working with or studying with you. mother can be treated as a friend but there is a limit in sharing one's feelings especially for teenagers. At the same time I can say that she is the right person to share your personal matters.

i'm still young (20 years) but i'm still just my mothers daughter. She has become kind of like my bestfriend but not at the same time because I do not tell her everything. She is what she always was.. my loving, caring mother who was supportive of me and did her best to raise me well.

It all depends on the person. Ideally, as our children grow and become adults, it should take on more of a friendship role, however, it dosen't always work like that. My mother and I had a terrible relationship while I was growing up and it's still terrible; mostly on account that she refuses to grow up herself. I know that when my daughter is grown, I hope she will see me as a friend and confidant, and think nothing of me like I think of my own mother.
