Does Firefox Do This To Anyone Else?

AARRGGHH!!! I had a few windows open at once, doing some work. I was on two sites at once (Gather and MyLot) and had my two e-mail accounts both open, while looking for hotel information for Mississauga on Friday night, and when I went to turn on my Roxio software to capture some personal videos for uploading to Gather, I got a "this program is not responding and has to shut down" or whatever the h3ll one calls it in Windows Vista, and poof! Internet G O N E ! I lost all my pages, including the hotel one, which I didn't want to lose. Stupid effing thing!!! If I close a window with 6 different tabs it gives me the option to save them, or automatically does if I close the program, but when Vista closes the program, POOF! Gonesville!!!! Dangit.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks for listening to me vent about Firefox.

I don't have any problems with firefox. I used to have that problem with Internet Explorer which is why I switched. Could your problem stem from having Vista? My hubby has vista and there are some things that he can't do or it just takes too long. I am on windows xp and I don't have any of the problems that he has. That's the bad thing when you get a new computer, it comes with vista whether you want it or not.

When I got a new laptop last year, I deliberately got one that had XP rather than Vista (one of the few) because even though I have not used Vista, I don't like what I have read about it.

If my Firefox closes down suddenly like that, I have the option of reopening Firefox more often than not. Just have to check the box at the bottom of the Error popup. If that doesn't appear, then when I reopen, I get a box asking me if I want to restore the previous session or start a new session, so no... that doesn't happen to me.
Brightest Blessings.

Hi.
Listening to all what you have mentioned, it seems to me either there is a virus in your system or there is some kind of registry mishap. I advice you to regularly update your antivirus, as I expect you to have one, and use a registry cleaner to check your system.
By the way, I never had any such problem.

That has always been an IE problem for me...that stopped since I started using Firefox. Actually the few times Firefox has shut down for me, when I tried to open it again afterwards it always offered me the option to restart itself opening the pages I was already browsing earlier. But I am on XP not on Vista and from what I heard about Vista, i think that could be the problem rather than Firefox. Honestly I would never go back to IE now that I discovered Firefox.

I think it was a Virus causing this problem. I also faced this problem many times, i don't think this is the Firefox problem. I am facing this problem in XP.

I do not use Firefox but the IE7 (had IE 8 but did not like it). However the same thing happens to me using IE and it drives me crazy. Why the system cannot just close the one windows is beyond me. I open separate windows so I can use them and not lose that particular site. I understand when I lose tabs on a windows but to just wipe out everything is so infuriating.

I use IE7, that has happened to me before. Just go under your history and pull up the web pages again.

I seem to be getting that more frequently with Firefox now when I upgraded to version 3. I understand it is getting more bloated like most programs they seem to get bigger and bigger. I would suspect you do not have enough RAM to supply Vista and all your programs up front and those that automatically start and run in the background. I wonder how much RAM you have. I understand Vista needs a lot.
Every time you open up a new program you need to use more RAM.
I gotta go now as there are tasks popping up here at MyLot and I have to go and write about can openers.

I never has such problem with Firefox, probably because I never come across any harmful site. I used to have that problem when I was using IE. Any window, tab or downloading files in progress will be close if one the tab or window come across a site with virus. So, as the solution, instead of tab or new window, I open a new Firefox or IE. That way only the one that's been affected will be close.
