According to realage.com coffee has many benefits and up to three cups a day can help to prevent many serious illnesses. But that's only if you don't smoke.
1 cup of coffee a day can lower your risk of getting cancer of the mouth, pharynx, and esophagus.
2 cups of coffee a day can lower a woman's risk of having a stroke by 19 percent as long as she doesn't have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes and doesn't smoke.
3 cups of coffee a day you will be 65 percent less likely of getting dementia or Alzheimer disease.
Don't stop eating your fruits and vegetables though, they have way more benefits than coffee.

When I drink 2 cups of coffee one after another it's alöready the maximum I think. Because when I drink another one my stomach will make strange noises and I feel uncomofortable.
Since I also smoke I guess it won't change much...but still I like drinking coffee even if I hated until not so long time ago..haha ^^

I don't normally drink this many cups in a day. I tend to drink more in the winter than in the summer. Summertime finds me at Starbucks, headed for the frozen coffee drinks. I doubt they have enough coffee in them to be very beneficial. I do try to eat more veggies each day. I'm trying to lose some weight, and that's a good way to do it.

I must admit I know very little on what's good for you or not lol. I do drink a LOT of coffee and only because I enjoy it. You could say I am addicted to it. If I can't get a coffee, I need to have a bottle of coca-cola. I love caffeine and don't particularly care if it's good for me or not haha.
I am not the healthiest person though, and just eat and drink what I like, even if it's bad for me.

Hi Norahfaith, this really sounds good. Previously I was drinking 5-6 cups per day; my husband nagged and nagged about caffeine addiction. So I cut down to 3 cups - been drinking this allotment daily. Now I can tell him that with my 3 cups, the chances of keeping my mental abilities in my old age, are higher than his!

I drink 3 cups of coffee in the morning and I enjoy it very much. I know it does have health benefits. I also will drink tea at bed time. This also has some health benefits.

GREETINGS NORAFAITH,
factually coffee enhances the NEURAL ACTIVITY of the drinker & REPLENISHES THE WORKING ZEAL in a different manner.
but it depends upon the caffeine content in coffee consumed in those 3 cups taken in a day.
here R the generalY consumed COFFEE GLOBALLY-
double espresso(2oz) - 45-100 gms
instant general coffee(8oz) - 70gms
decaf (8oz)- 1-5gams
black coffee(8OZ)-45 gms
AS PER WHO(WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION)
ONLY 300 gms CAFFEINE CONSUMPTION PER DAY IS SAFE.
so why risk out the LIFE...drink below LEVEL 200 .
REGARDS

I think 1-2 cups a day is good, but
more than that will not be that good.

Good information. I have heard about the beneficial effects of coffee. But often times I drink more that 3 cups of coffee. The problem with some of these studies are the results. Some of them say that 4-6 cups are okay some would say otherwise. But one thing is sure I drink coffee.

I think that I have heard about some of the benefits of coffee. I think that I might believe them also. However I need to watch my caffeine intake because of the chemicals that cause nervousness in me.
These findings are very good to keep in mind. However I have cut back to drinking more decaffeinated drinks and not so much the regular.
There are also the hidden caffeines and sugars in certain sodas and the like that I have to watch out for. They can make me jumpy and jittery.
I do agree that there is no substitute for eating the fruits and vegetables. There are a lot of vitamins in those things that give us more longevity.
I didn't realize though that coffee can lower things like the risk of stroke in women.
I will try to keep that in mind. Thanks again for the input.

Hi,
I never knew that coffee has so many benefits to our health. I only drink one cup of coffee per day. However, I think the caffeine in the coffee is bad for our health. On the other hand, I am drinking caffeine- free coffee and I would like to know if decaffeinated coffee has the benefits that you mentioned.

I drink one cup of coffee every day. I love coffee very much. It is very famous in
INDIA , particularly TAMILNADU . It is a good drink which boosts our energy.
But anything excess is not good for health.

There are so many coffee studies and conflicting information about it. We do know that there are some health benefits from it. We also know that drinking too much has bad side effects. Finally some people have a real sensitivity to caffeine in coffee. Lately I have been feeling the caffeine in decaf coffee (they don't get it all out and a little is enough to cause problems for me if it isn't in the morning). Whether or not three cups of coffee a day is good for you probably also depends on how much stuff you put into it. Cream, creamer, sugar, and artificial sweeteners all have negative sides to them.

That's too much caffeine for me! I do know someone who has severe asthma and would consume as many as ten cups (I think it was ten) in an asthma attack if medication were not available.
