Have you ever shifted from one place to another?

Yesterday I got a call from one of my friend who used to stay near just close to my house. But since I am shifted from that location we are not able to meet regularly. We are always in touch with each others by mobile phones. We are still meeting each other twice or thrice in a month. It makes us know different people and different friends. Surrounding changes. Before that also when I was kid my family was shifted from one location to other. So, Have you ever shifted? Has it effected your life?

Oaky! I need to count: 1. From place A to Place B in 1987 2. From Place B to Place C in 1999 3. From Place C to Place D in 2002 4. From Plcae D to Place E in 2005 Since then I am living at the same flat and I don't own it but rent it. I think by the end of this year, I have to shift to another place. I don't like being shifted but sometimes the situations are like that we can't chage our plan!

I don't know but yeah, I've been shifting a lot. Right after my grade school, we transferred to a different place to live, then after high school we transferred to a different house but same place, and right after I graduated in College, I was brought here to US by my parents. Right now I am not living with them and renting an apartment with a friend's sister, but these days, it's getting hard for me to pay for the rent since it's too expensive to live to where I am right now, so I'll probably transfer back to my parent's house by the end of the month. Shifting from one place to another has advantages and also disadvantages. I get to meet a lot of new people whenever I'm in a new place, new friends and acquaintances. But on the other side, it makes me sad to leave people I've been close to, especially during my high school and college years. All my best friends are in my home country and I really miss them a lot.

I have shifted twice. I grow up and graduated in one city. We were living in a rented place. Well, the time came that we can no longer live there and we have to transfer. So now, I am here in a new place, but its not that far from where I use to live. It took some adjustments of course considering that new neighbors, friends and basically different kind of setting from where I live. But its okay, we are always designed to adapt.

Most of us Chinese are not used to shifting locations. My family location never changed before, and I cant see any hint that we will shift to other place for the rest of life.As for me,I will have my own family one day. And I hope my future new family will be in a totally different place.I'd like to shift to a place where is far away from my current location.

hi, rakesh I had and they had lol... When I was in elementary, mom had to stay with her parents to her hometown so my sister and I had to transfer school there and dad got left in his hometown and then we moved back to dad's after a year. It was a difficult year because dad can only visit us like once in a month or two but it was a relief that my mom's parents got better so we were able to get back with dad hahaha... When I went to college, I had to live at a dormitory. I got into one of the most presigious and tough universities here and had a scholarship to boot that's why my parents had no choice but to let me study far from our hometown waaah! It was really tough for me to move away and start living independently at 17. lol but yeah, I think it was a sacrifice for all of us...

Well, my family has not shifted before, I've been staying in the house since I was born. But, I studied in several places after secondary school, and I stayed away from my hometown, hence I shifted a few places when I was studying. It's true that we get to know new friends when we move to a new place. As I have studied in different colleges, I made some new friends in the several new environment. It's good that I always make new friends, but sometimes when I move to another place, after we've been busy with our own work, we tend to get less contact with each other.

Thanks for sharing your views and experiences in this discussion. I think everyone gets busy at job and they are unable to get in touch with their friends but we have to manage for them. After it is the magic of friendship that binds us even when we are busy.

Thanks for sharing your views in this discussion I think you are right after some shifts you will get tired of it and will prefer to avoid it. It definitely affects our life both family and friends.

No it does not affect our life at all since we don't get so closed to neighbors and i myself don't talk to my neighbor much since i am a foreigner to this land, i am not speaking fluent Hindi. Well we just moved twice and for me i really don't like to stay in flats. I hope someday soon we will have to get our own house and lot and live comfortably without moving too much. It is really inconvenient when moving, yes you pack all your stuff and move it again and then adjust to the new environment, but i see to it i am not attached to my environment since i will just have to complain more if i do.
