Aww..I am glad to hear that she was alright. I am not sure if you should hold it against your friend being it seems she didnt do it on purpose but I think she should of at least apologized to you and made sure the cat was okay instead of laughing. I mean I could see where she were to think it was funny not seeing the cat and sitting down but at least say I am sorry and check on the cat first. I know my mom was sat on our dogs tail when I was a kid just by sitting on it and the tail getting pinched weird in the cushions but she jumped up as soon as she realized the dogs tail was under hair and made sure she was alright. I guess just tell your friend to be careful where she sits next time she comes for a visit.

Yes my kitty was hurt terribly. But it wasn't an accident. My ex-husband was cruel to him when we were married. It was right after my son was born (he is 15 now). Stuffy had crawled up into my sons crib, and my son was not in it at the time, and my ex got mad and tried to grab him and stuffy bit him. This angered him more, and grabed him by the scruff of his neck and threw him against the wall. He cried badly, and I was so pissed off. I wanted to leave him then and there. My poor stuffy limped for the next two weeks. Luckily we got divorced. I do not like anyone that abuses animals, especially my own. They are my babies. After the divorce he would come to pick up my son two weekends a month for visitation, and stuffy would hide as soon as he came to the door. Sadly I lost Stuffy in 2004, and I now have Boots. Mind you, Boots has never been around him, and from the first day he saw him, he goes and hides until he is gone. So cats know animal abusers!!! I bet your friend felt so bad about it.

I have an older cat and I believe you have every right to be angry. My pets are a members of my family and I wouldn't allow my friends to sit on my children so why my pets.

YES! She was extremely rude in laughing!!! She could have seriously injured the cat and left you with a huge vet bill. I had the same thing happen with one of my cats. It wasn't a friend that was the sitter. I had applied for disability and a social worker came out to check out where I was living. Well I had a tiny Siamese female who was VERY delicate not only emotionally but physically (I rescued her from an abusive environment. She had skull fractures, broken ribs and was very severely sight impaired. ) Mom had a large dog, so it was a major decision on my part which to move out of the room. The dog won, and as I was putting the dog in my Mom's room the woman came in and chose the chair that my cat was sleeping in to be her seat. It wouldn't have mattered so much if the woman didn't weigh over 300 pounds...but she came in, didn't check out the chair and proceeded to sit on the cat! I have never seen anyone move as fast as that lady (I think KoKo sunk a claw in that massive behind!)and KoKo jumped out of the chair and sat on the end table glaring at the lady the entire visit. The woman never apologized to either us or KoKo. Fortunately KoKo wasn't hurt, but it is extremely infuriating to have someone who can't make sure that the place that they are going to sit is clear of cats! Hug your poor baby for me...and tell her that I am sorry that she got sat on. I have done it to my Mini Dachshunds. They are fast and they will dart under you as you're sitting down. I have held them for hours worrying that they were injured seriously. Fortunately none of them have been, but I ALWAYS apologize and hug and hold the animals for quite a period of time after something like that has happened.

Your friend of course did not mean to sit on your cat and yes she should have looked before sitting but heck...that could happen to anyone and a forgivable mistake. It is the laughing that makes it feel wrong...it isn't a funny thing. Was her laughter a nervous laugh? Some people laugh when they are upset. it's a nervous reaction. I am glad your cat is ok but there is no humor in this situation. I would say...don't be angry at your friend because I am sure she did not mean to sit on your cat and would have felt horrible had she hurt the cat but I would tell her how her laughter affected you. I am betting her laughte was in reacton to relief....had your cat been hurt...she'd not be laughing. don't lose your friendship over this. talk to her.

In our family, pets are as important as children, and if someone got one of our pets in an accident (don't worry it hasn't happened yet), we would have the person in really big trouble. I don't think you are overreacting at all.
