I think I saw somewhere *long time ago* that in order to do that legally, you still need to pay their monthly fee to blizzard, then you are should be safe, if not, could get into some deep water.Friend of mine was hosting a server for one and charter cable saw the traffic he was generating and while later received a letter stating if it wasn't shut down, he would be sued, and it was from reps of blizzard.

Well what you said is about hosting a private server... but if you want to just play it, then noone can sue you or anything. Also as I've heard blizzard only is interested about very populates private servers (1000+ players) since they steal a lot of their customers.

I will agree with you on that part but i'm pretty sure in the EULA they only give the permission to install their software on your computer and that in order to play it you need their monthly fee, anything otherwise may be against the EULA unless you already have a subscription.. I cannot be sure about it anyways cause its been a year anyways since I have played lol

If you play on the free trial version and refer some friends to the game at the same time, every person you refer, Blizzard will give you some free game time. If you refer enough people then you could possibly end up with enough game time to play free for a while.
If you don't want to do that, try a private server. They're not the best, but it will give you an idea of the game.

If you want to play it legit, then no it cant be free after the 10 day trial. To be honest I think that while, yes, Blizzard must make a TON of money out of it's millions of subscribers, it's really only fair as we're getting a constantly maintained game with comparitively regular updates.
If you break the cost down, it's less than a movie every couple of weeks...

World of Warcraft offers a ten day free trial with which you can see the game for yourself.. After the ten days you will be billed from there on, now one thing I am not sure is after the 10 day trial you have to buy a cd key for the retail price of the game or if it just starts a normal monthly billing fee..I am thinking you will still be required to purchase the cd key.. You may be able to get it free from someone but you will still be required to play a subscription fee each month to play it..
