Help me to tell mom I love her

Since I was a child I never heard my mom telling me the words "I love you". Of course she loves me but she cannot utter it to us, her kids. I understand that since she's not use to it, or she might feel awkward. We grow up like that too. But, I want to tell her "I love you mom" but I'm shy. It feels awkward too. How will I tell it face to face without me or her feeling uncomfortable?
