1989 suzuki intruder vs750 wiring

My bike has a charge on the ground. I have looked for a short on all wires and found none. I have one wire coming from, what I think is a diode, on the back of the speedometer, black w/red stripe that is not connected. I do not know where it should be connected. A wiring diagram would be most helpful.
