This is a shot of one of my apple trees budding already. Last year we had a cold spring so the bees and butterflies weren't around early enough to pollinate them as well as prior. I am hoping the spring warms up faster than last year so I have more apples this year. Do you or have you ever had apple trees in your yard? Do you plant flowers etc to attract butterflies and bees for pollination? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I don't have apple trees, but I've got some nearby on my neighbor's property. Part of the property is pretty much overgrown and unused, so I go walking around there. Once I found some wild looking apple trees that must have been planted as part of an orchard. I can go pick them any time I want. We were once going to buy that property, about 10 acres, but the old guy's family didn't want him to sell it. I still wish I could buy it, but I can enjoy it almost as much as if it were mine. There are also berry bushes there.

My guess on the apples would be macintosh, and there are black berries and wild strawberries.

Our apple trees are budding too, they have white flowers on them right now, I don't know what is wrong with them tho, we don't know what to do, they will grow really pretty big apples, but when you look closely at them they all have worm holes in them, none of them are any good. I don't know if theres some kind of spray that we need to use on them, its a shame. We also have peach trees, and pear trees, the pears do good, the trees just get full of them and ppl around the area like to come pick them, but like our apple trees the peach trees don't do good either, they'll start getting peaches on them but then the leaves will start curling up and the pears don't ever get ripe they just die. I think I've only gotten peaches twice since I've lived here, and I've been here 6 yrs. now. We probably need to find some kind of spray that will kill the bacteria or whatever grows on them.

Thank you Piscesmoon....this was very helpful..we will look into it, I just hate to see all those apples go to waste. What is the coddling moth, is it some kind of worm?

I don't recall ever having apple trees in our yard not even as a child. Hey, I will give you some warm spring temperatures if you will give us some rain. LOL

I used to have an apple tree, but where we are living now there are not any fruit trees. I am going to miss that apple tree this year. I hope you get a bunch this year.

Yeah no and no. I'm not so good at it plus you have to like weeding and oh no. I let my roommate put in a garden and I have to hear about that. Come out and look help me weed. The last thing I want to do is weed a garden after 8 hours of work. That is what I had to do a kid growing up on the farm weed and help with the cows and pigs. How anybody finds weeding relaxing is behond me. You have a good day. Your friend onlydia

My flowering pear trees are all blossomed and beautiful! During the warm spell about a week ago the bees were out in full force, pollinating everything and having a good time. I hope your bees have a great season.
