I know a lot of my friends here have a kind heart. We ALL know not to just give away our bank account information. Yet, I can see one of you kind souls trying to help a poor little puppy!!! I find this to be despicable!!! I'm disgusted!!! Is NOTHING sacred??? I can't be the ONLY one disgusted by this or am I???

I've received that scam in my email. I responded by telling the sender that I knew it was a scam and I was going to "help him out" by reporting him to the authorities, both in his country and mine. There is actually an International Fraud Unit in our own U.S. Secret Service.
I don't know if they handle things of this nature, but I do forward those emails to them and I also forward them to my email server and have sent dozens of these Nigerian scam emails to the Nigerian government.
What is done when they receive them, I don't know. But, I HOPE that my emailing the scammers back and telling them that I've forwarded their emails to the "proper authorities" makes them pull up shop and move in order to avoid being caught. It might help one naive and trusting person to keep their money and bank account safe. I can only hope so.

I learn something new every day!!! I have never heard of the Fraud Unit. Please PM me their addy so I can forward some of the ones I receive. I know I've won well over $15 million in the last 6 months. I seriously doubt the Nigerian government is doing anything to help, but I have been known to be wrong (rarely, but it does happen)

This is scarily believable!!! That's why I wanted to point it out. If everybody here learns about it & they tell a few friends & those friends tell a few friends, etc maybe this one won't work!!!

Of course you aren't lady M - It is deplorable the depths that these people will sink to to scam money out of people who usually can ill afford it! i wouldn't have anything to do with this type of scam anyway because I believe like was mentioned in that article that shipping a puppy is actually quite cruel and very distressing for a puppy but as you say I can imagine many kind hearted people who would only want to help falling for this! Hugs xxx

I know many who would fall for this one....simply out of kindness!!! A lot of my clients are elderly & they're always telling my boss how much they appreciate me telling them of the latest scam. They know their money is safe with us!!! My boss loves this idea also. He uses it as part of his selling point!!! Since we can't prosecute these people, I think we can arm ourselves & our friends with knowledge. If we warn everyone of the new scam & NOBODY falls for it...THEY LOSE!!!

Ok, there have been many times in my life when I truly thought I'd 'seen it all', but this takes the cake!!!!
But I've learned. So if I get an email with the words 'Africa, Dubai, Nigeria, beneficiary' and others like that, I just delete.
You can't trust anything anymore, and just how soul destroying is that eh?

I knew You wouldn't fall for it A.M., but there are many who would!!! I'm sure there are many in your little town who would think nothing of helping a sweet little puppy get home!!! Most think of the scams being a large amount of money. They don't think of being ripped off by a sweet little puppy!!! I simply find this to be deplorable!!!

I didn't look at the link, I can't stand to read about or see animals and children being abused. There is nothing these scum won't do to part us from our money.
I'm going to make that stew tomorrow! I'll be letting you know how it is tomorrow evening.

The link has NOTHING to do with either children or animals being abused!!! It just details how this scam works.
GREAT on the stew. I wondered if you had forgotten me!!!

You are not alone. I think there are people who would fall for this because there are people out there that are active in animal rights and animal resuce. This makes me sad and mad all at the same time. Sad that people are gulable to fall for it and mad because some people just have no morals at all!!

This isn't just a Nigerian scam. My daughter had a puppy to sell and some one from Illinois wanted it. This person claimed to be deaf and he want'ed the puppy for his son. When all the logistics were worked out the person sent her a check for much more than was agreed up and the expense of shipping the puppy. She was ask to cash the check and hold the difference for some one to meet her and pick it up. She got suspicious and called the bank the certified check was written on and found it to be bogus. so she turned it into the law. The person kept e-mailing her wanting to know when she would cash the check. Any way this was one time they didn't get sucker

EXCELLENT point!!! That's why I ONLY buy/sell through PayPal. They verify the funds before paying me & I don't have to give any personal info to those I don't know. If I cant use PayPal, I don't need it that bad!!! Atleast your daughter could prosecute them!!! I know it was a hassle for her, but she did get some revenge!!!

Fortunately I've never gotten this scam email and besides if I did wouldn't fall for it. Most of these Nigerian scams actually do admit to their origins so as soon as I see any in my emails to me I just delete it...but this really is an all time low as no doubt they are tugging at our heart strings with anything related to animals/pets. I would never fall for it.. Don't ask how many times I've reported to the FBI site to report fraud..they're probably fed up from hearing from me...LOL

Most here wouldn't fall for it Mel, but their friends just might...especially the older folks!!! My Dad knows if he receives an email telling him he has won millions to just ignore it. If I don't warn him to ignore the puppy one, he will be making arrangements to save a sweet baby. Oh, the FBI loves you!!!! I bet your file is a foot thick. You justify their existence!!!

They will never stop as long as people continue to fall for them. Law enforcement officials are powerless to stop these criminals from preying on innocent people. There will always be criminals, and there will always be scams.
Hell politicians rob and scam us every day, and WE PAY THEM TO DO IT LOL

I understand they have absolutely NO morals, but that is still NO excuse. Scammers & child abusers are 2 of the lowest forms of life in my eyes!!!

Hi LadyM,
They know how to pull people's heart string, but I would never be fooled by that as I know there is never a puppy there in the first place, and if I want a puppy I'll go to my animal shelter here near where I live and not in any other country especially Africa, these people should be proscuted.

G'Day tamara, Almost everybody here is too smart to fall for this one. I just ask they tell all their friends to be on the lookout. If I had my way ALL scammers would be prosecuted!!! Since that isn't going to happen, I just try & forewarn everybody I know so they can pass it to their friends. If everybody ignores their scams, they will soon have to close down!!!

That's why I try to warn everybody I know when I hear of a new scam. That way they can warn everybody they know. I sent an email to everybody in my address book so they'll know to ignore this one. Not saying that you've won a lottery might make some people feel comfortable. Saving somebody's pet makes people soft hearted. So, I just want everybody to warn their friends to ignore this one!!!

Enriching themselves is ALL they think about!!! NOT enriching them should be our ONLY goal!!! Warn ALL your friends so they know to just ignore it. Once NOBODY gives them the chance to steal their money, they will get bored & find another way to get what they need!!!
