Do you bite your nails?

no, it is unhygienic. it can be a source of diseases and virus. first step of controlling disease and infection is washing hands before and after eating, and after using the toilet.

I do not bit my nails, though I did pick up on the habit when I was a young teen - my cousin was visiting and she was a nail biter, and that kind of wore off on me. I am not sure how I got myself to quit.. . but I do know I felt a compulsion to chew on them for a long time after I decided no more. today my teen son is a nail biter. he chews them down so low, it looks painful to me. it also makes me nervous when I see him doing it.

Hi Taface, unfortunately I have no nails to bite. It's usually when I'm nervous or anxious that I would start playing with my nails and then start tearing off the white edges!

Hey there! No, I don't bite my nails. I never had a habit of biting my nails even when I was a child. It's kinda unhygienic to bite our nails. We don't know where we use our hands. Specially the nails where dirt and germs hide. Maybe you should try lollipops. Every time you feel that you wanna bite your nails just suck some lollipops instead. What do you think? No, I think I never bite my nails. And I always keep my nails short and tidy, I think the nails are always bited would look untidy, so I don't think I like it.

The only time I bite a fingernail is if I break one and I don't have fingernail clippers handy. I will bite my nail to get it the rest of the way off.

I've never been a nail bitter but my older brother was. We got him this stuff that we made him dip his fingers in, it taste terrible so when he went to nibble he would stop and wouldn't do it anymore. You might try that.

I have the same habit. I hate it because I used to have really nice nails and now they're all uneven. Only my pinky nail on my left hand looks nice lol. Bad habits are hard to break though. I'm really trying to stop. It's hard for me though because I notice when I'm anxious I bite my nails and I'm really stressed with school right now so my nails look like hell. I think I need to get that nail polish that tastes gross that they put on babies to keep them from biting their nails. Maybe that would help lol.

Hi, when I was probabl;y about 9 or 10, I decided to stop biting my nails. I don't remember exactly how I stopped but it was probably wanting my hands to look nice. I haven't bit my nails in a long time. I trim then when they get too long. I hate havibg a nail break, sometimes it get too painful like last time I broke a nail.

i bite my nails all the time, and i even proceed to start biting off the loose skin on my fingers, my hands are so ugly because of that lol, but I cant stop, I'm not a female so I cant even paint my nails (with out being insulted a number of times lol) to prevent myself from biting them

Yes this is a very bad habit of mine and I try not to do it but it is hard not to. Especially when I am nervous. There are times when I won't bite my nails at all and when I get really nervous or excited about something I start gnawing away. I have been doing it since I was little.

I do! I am guilty of this!! I sometimes don't notice doing this especially when my nails grow long enough for me to bite. I usually bite my nails when I'm driving.. It's weird but I do that when I get bored at times. Sure it is a bad habit, but habit is a habit, and it'll be hard to stop. I am a serious nail biter, and I can't kick it. The only thing that keeps me from biting my nails is if I go to the nail salon to get acrylic nails. Then I can keep them out of my mouth. But I cannot afford to do that much any more - so my nails are currently bitten down to the quick on both hands.

I don't bite my nails all the time. But sometimes if I get a hang nail I will. My aunt used to bite her nails when she was a kid. My grandma used to put hot sauce on them. It was supposed to stop her from biting them. Turns out she like the hot sauce. She out grew it eventually. With a little determination I think you'll be able to stop! Power to you!
