Dagnammit!!! I Detest E-Mails!

I decided, after a previous discussion, to firstly try out the Beta version of Incredimail, thinking it might be more compatible with Firefox. No way, Jose! It was just as bad. So I figured out, if I sent all my important e-mails from my folders to Yahoo, I could uninstall Incredimail, and then send the mails back from Yahoo to my main EMail.
Ok, so I set about sending all the important stuff. All the new discussions and responses to responses I needed to answer as well as mails from friends, business mails and darts league mails which I had accumulated. Goodness knows how many there were but it took me most of yesterday. Then, before I went to bed, I uninstalled Incredimail. I went to bed happy that I'd done almost half the job at least.
This morning, I got up and opened my main EMail, to find 9942 emails in there. So, I set about getting rid of everything except for that which came this morning. Then, I went to Yahoo and methodically sent all those back to my main account. Of course, I then had more email come in and all that needed to be filed, except for discussions. I'd filed a fair few, went back to the inbox and there were four new, spam ones on the top, so I clicked to delete. Once I had deleted, I went back to the inbox and EEEEEEK I only had nine mails left!!! I had deleted a whole page of one hundred mails, and lost them for good!
So... I'm very sorry if I haven't answered your discussions or your responses to mine, but I don't know where to look now. After near enough a day and a half, I had lost most of my wanted stuff, and no back-up either! I could have cried, but that wouldn't get me anywhere, so instead, I went and cooked myself a nice dinner, ate that, and had a couple of ciggies. lol.
Have you every lost all your important e-mail by clicking that top box instead of the first e-mail... grrrrrrrrrr... it's most annoying!

Doesn't do what? Have a check box for 'select all?' I have an AOL account but it's not my main one so I very rarely use it. I don't know why I bothered really apart from wanting AIM. My main address is with my ISP, who is Orange.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution my friend.

GMail seems like a good programme, but the problem is, I don't really want to change my main address and that you didn't have to do with Incredimail. It was causing me a whole heap of problems with Firefox slowing almost to a halt, and freezing up. It carries adware and was getting really bad lately, with Firefox crashing every time I opened the mail, so that was it! Enough!
Brightest Blessings my friend and thank you for your contribution.

Well that was a bit of a trial for you sweety. You certainly had your work cut out, I was confused just reading what you did,. At least you only lost that many...it could have been more.
I seriously need to back up photos on to a CD or DVD but have a few questions first.
I hope you have sorted things out by now. I'm having problems with either my mouse or the USB ports on my laptop, wish me good luck woith that little problem.
Brightest Blessings...xx

I certainly will... good luck with working out your little problem with your mouse or USB ports. I hope it doesn't turn out to be something major, my friend. It is frustrating when you lose those mails you purposely saved for a reason but as you say, it's not the end of the world. I'm getting there!
Brightest Blessings my friend and thank you for your contribution.

I deleted them permanently. They don't even touch trash, unless I select to send them there. lol. Oh well, another day, another dollar! I guess I'll manage as we did in the days before email!
Brightest Blessings my friend and thank you for your contribution.

Hahahahaha... I can relate to your horror when you went back and saw what you had inadvertently done! I have had my share of e-mail disasters. When I stopped using Incredimail and just made do with the boring hotmail format was one of those rough times. I have a friend who is such a poet, he inspires the poet in me and our back and forth communication was at times pretty profoundly beautiful. I lost a whole lot of that in the transition, although I had saved a few to floppy disc, a very few.

Awwww, what a shame you lost the poetry. Did he save it, so that you could get it back again? Just a thought, my friend. It seems such a pity most of it was lost.
I might even go back to incredimail yet but it seems such a lot of work. It's a nicer looking, better e-mail on the whole but if it keeps messing up my Firefox, it's not much good having it.
Brightest Blessings my friend and thank you for your contribution.

Yeah, I always liked Incredimail too, but it ended up being too much trouble long before I switched to firefox even.
Whats really weird is that my friend (who had saved ALL our emails) lost his saved emails right around the same time I did! I think his whole system had crashed, something like that anyway. The only thing I can think that offers any solace, hehehe, is 'it's only words and there's plenty more where those came from!'

Yes, I have, but then I run straight to trash and claim them back before it empties itself. It is frustrating. I hope things are going better now.

With mine, they give you a double check then they go permanently... no trash bin, nothing. It's one of those things where I can't turn the clock back my friend, so I've gotten over the frustration, and got on with whatever I can. I managed to get the main stuff filed away, but lost quite a lot of discussions and responses. Never mind... worse things happen at sea so they say.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my friend.

Oh no, another computer/internet disaster (scratches head). Sometimes I try to fix my husband's puter thinking I have done him a favor by deleting unwanted files and changing settings. But when he turns on the puter and finds out it's been messed up.
Regarding email, I only stick to my gmail and yahoo and I don't know, I may have had the same experience of deleting mails only to find out I needed them. Then I sat there utterly helpless. But like my husband always says, "It's not the end of the world".

Your husband's right of course, except for when they're something you need to refer to, to help with something on the computer. I'm in the habit now of sending my e-mails that are of importance to at least one other address so that if one crashes, I still have them elsewhere.
Brightest Blessings my friend and thank you for your contribution.

I have Firefox also and tried using Incredimail and it was the same for me that it was for you so I had to uninstall Incredimail also. There have been a couple of times that I checked the wrong box for deleteing a message and checked the box that deletes all the email messages. It only took me a couple of times doing that that I now watch close what box I am checking.

I'm wondering if it might be something to do with our security settings, my friend, as quite a few other people use both and have no problems. I must have done something wrong in this world, I think... what did you do wrong by the way? No, joking aside, it seems to work for some and not for others so I can only summise that it's probably security settings.
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution.

I agree with you. It almost has to do with the security settings. Especially since there are those it works for. Have a great weekend, Darkwing.

i haven't done it honey but probably only because I am not as organised as you are and I donlt think I could ever face closing down an email and having to send all the emails I wanted to keep! I am far too lazy!lol I wouldn't worry about any discussions etc - anyone would understand! Hugs to you honey xxx

I can't blame you for that. It took me hours to transfer them all to Yahoo because Yahoo is the only one who won't link up with Incredimail because of their Norton security. I figured it would be easier to spend time transferring what I wanted and uninstalling Incredimail than it would be to waste so much time rebooting and sending error reports to Incredimail. Such is life!
Brightest Blessings my dear friend and thank you for your contribution.

DON'T get me started on anything C related! I've not heard of incredimail, but I'm forever shooting between Firefox and IE, depending on which one is crashing the least ...
I run all my surveys from my Yahoo account, and they always have multiple links. But if I try to open a link from Yahoo Mail, half the time on IE it tells me that IE is closing down ... but Firefox I get incompatibility problems.
I gave up doing survey work recently. I know I'm owed money right left and centre, but it's too much bother to go and collect it!

I can't get on with IE at all. It's really slow, then tells me it can't find a connection, so I steer clear, and stay with Firefox. Of course, as I said to Gabs it could be something relating to my security system.
Brightest Blessings, my friend and thank you for your contribution.

OH have I ever. I learned my lesson and not only use hotmail. To be honest I like it better than yahoo because of the pinching from yahoo accounts. I just don't get the junk on hotmail like I did on yahoo.
I lost my entire address book and valid e-mails for work I do, contracts and what nots. I used explorer and learned that web based mail is so much better then downloading and then loosing it all.

Strangely enough, my friend, it was through webmail that I lost it... it was my Orange/Freeserve account. Orange are my ISP. The good news is that I reinstalled Incredimail and all my saved files were still there, so I got back most of what I lost. Phew!!! I'm still very wary of it though. It's ok without an IE Browser open, but it doesn't get along with them, and causes problems when both are open together.
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution.
