Do you feel Linux is a much better operating system than windows XP or Vista. It's much bug free?

I do not think so. I have used Ubuntu and it did perform well but my games like nba08, call of duty 5, need for speed pro street and etc does not have a linux compatibility. My other programs also does not work in Linux. Linux are only good in some features or functions that is specially needed. I do not think that my games would work in Linux.

linux will never be 100% bug free as 100% bug free os is exist only in ideal world named dream land. the good news is bug can be repair and time to fix depend on its complexity by sending bug report or kind of.
hardware compatibilities somehow didnt a problem if you choose big company pc like dell, lenovo, hp, acer, msi you name it.
most application can be download freely.
the best os? i think it is what linux developer aim to be.

Depends on what you have to do.
If you want to surprise your friends with desktop effects, you don't want to pay for the software you use and have a 100% hardware compatible pc,you can use some distros like Mandriva,PcLinuxOs,Suse,Red Hat,and so on.
If you have to play game the choice is still Windows. If your graphics card doesn't support DX10 you can continue to use XP,othwerwise u can switch to Vista,or simply wait for Seven.

I never tried Linux but have heard that it is THE best. Personally, I prefer windows XP....or any windows for that matter. Even Vista isn't that bad.
