My New Job - my Learner's Permit - a joyful rant.

Hi All, On Tuesday I officially start a new job. It's just pick / packing in a warehouse again but I am really looking forward to it since it was bloody hard to find this job due to the current status of the economy. I was out of work for a few months and really starting to struggle with bills and rent. This job could NOT have come at a better time. The only slight problem is that it's pretty hard to get to because the nearest public transport is about 45 minute walk away. So that would make 90 minutes of walking to and from the train station every day, as well as 8 hours a day on my feet haha. I'm going to cheat a little and take a taxi to work each day and hopefully get a lift to the station after work. This gave me a little kick up the bum to go and get my learner's permit for a car. I am 27 and never did it - so it's about time anyway. I've had my learner's permit for a week and a half haha, and while I am working I will save for a car and full license. Woooooh. I'm just excited that everything is falling into place lol.

Hey there, thanks for responding. I think they will be fantastic people to work with, we had some training a few days ago and everyone else I will be working with are new as well. 35 new employees. We are all going to want to help each other learn the ropes so it should be really good. Everyone was just lovely at the training, so I have a really good feeling about this place :-) As far as the exercise goes, it will most definitely be good for me, and should help with losing some weight. I just don't fancy being on my feet for that long every day, but I've done it before and I will do it again haha. :-)

What's a gym?? J/k. You're right, I won't feel the exercise after a while. :-)

Whoa! Congratulations on that! You actually deserve it. But hey since you are just starting, there would definitely be some growing pains, in your case getting to the nearest transport but hey, a job is a job! It pay the bills right. So I wish all the best and I hope you enjoy your time in there!

It's like the 400th job I have had lol, but the furthest from any transport too, all the other jobs have been close to trains or trams and really easy to get to. But that's why I am learning to drive :-) Thanks for your comment.

Hi all, I thought I would update you all on this now as it has been a while. This job lasted 5 months and then they started getting rid of a lot of us. Three of us ladies ended up working together at another company that was on-call casual work and we weren't getting the hours we needed to survive lol. I am on my 3rd week of yet another job haha, still warehouse work, but this one is full-time and will be permanent after my trial run, so should be far more stable than all the casual work I have been doing for the past few years. As far as my car and license go, I am halfway there, I bought the car in October (and it was one I had my heart set on)...bought it from a friend who sold it to me for about $2k cheaper than he could have sold it for...what a sweet guy. SO I now need to focus on my license...been doing lessons every now and again, but they are expensive, so just go when I can afford them. Now that I have the car, there is no excuse not to get my license. I hope this update filled you in on what was happening lol. Take Care....-Signum
