Do you prefer riding a motorcycle as the second passenger?

We all know that gasoline and diesel prices are going up frequently. With this, motorcycle riders are increasing since it can somehow save money. However, motorcycle-related accidents are rampant as we are watching the daily news. Now for example, a good friend of yours offered a free ride to send you back and forth to office or school on a daily basis. Will you accept the offer, or will prefer riding jeepneys? Considering that you don't have your own car.

I think the problem here is not the motorcycle but the one who's driving it. I have known a lot of people who used motorcycle as a means of transport. They are very responsible driver, with complete gear. Motorcycle Accident happens to aggressive drivers. I will accept the offer if he drives responsibly.

I think this is not a general idea. While there are those responsible motorcycle drivers, there are other vehicle (especially the big ones) drivers who are not. The problem in riding on a motorcycle as the second passenger, you don't know what will happen next. Even a small stone or passing by dog can distract the driver... Just my 2 cents.

I think you misunderstood my question, as I am not talking about the kind of motorcycle. I am referring to as second passenger. He is the one at the back of the driver...

I prefer to just walk or ride the jeepney rather than ride a motorcycle as a second passenger... even if the one driving is very careful... other drivers are not... and that could lead to a fatal accident... i had two former students die because of a motorcycle accident... and for the past two years that i have been working in my office... there has been like 5 motorcycle accidents in front of my office already...

Accidents happen almost everyday, and motorcycles are not exempted. And even how much careful a driver we are, there are drivers who don't have considerations to other drivers. And vehicles are just machines that when they come to malfunction, we are not being told ahead of time. There came most of vehicular accidents. Now to answer your question, I will still go on riding a motorcycle, to save on expenses. Anyway, God always there to guide us. By the way, I own a motorcycle and still using it everyday. I just get very very careful on the road. And I consider myself as one of the best defensive drivers in the place...

No I'm afraid to ride a motorcycle. We all know that everyday there are accidents in motorcycle. Last month my cousin had an accident but not serious, all they got are wounds and scratches. They are lucky that their injuries are not serious. Drunking while driving and not wearing the helmet are the problem why this accidents happened. Many are killed because this motorcycle accidents.

I won't. It's too risky or even life-threatening, even with a helmet. It won't hurt to spend a few bucks to go where you're supposed to. It's more expensive to pay for hospital bills, to say the LEAST.

I know how to drive a motorcycle but I will not let myself riding on it on a daily basis. Passengers of a sing motorcycle can easily injured in a single fault and it would be a life threatening. I will not risk my life with just a single failure.

Hello good day to you my friend. Yes, you are right about the gasoline, that it is still deman here in our country increasing because of a great number of vehicles, which causes for the price to increases in the market. The reason why oil really have a great amount of cost, it's because it is demanding and we import it to other country. But if we will never import oil, i think the price of it will decrease because we will no longer pay a high amount of tax. Here in our country the number of motorcycle is very big, that's why we always seen this in the road and not only in the road but also in the television news because of the great number of accident it cause, as we can see we always see that there is a accident always happen everyday which is very sad because it only means that it is not safe to be ride. The cause of accident here is those drunk driver who still drive in the road even they are not feeling well and the over capacity of people who still ride in two wheels, which is very dangerous. Here in our place many people always take a ride with that kind of situation that's why there is so many accidents that we always encounter. Well, me even though i have many friends that have many motorcycle and he always ask me to ride on his back i never agree with him because i know the dangerous effect of ridding in that kind of vehicle. But if the ride is four wheels i will be able to ride it because i know that i'm with that place were i am saff. That's why i really prepare to buy car someday rather than to buy a two wheels because of the reason it is more safe. Even though the motorcycle is low in consuming oil, i will still chooce the car or the four wheel even though it is more consuming of gasoline, but least i know i'm safe. Well, that's all my response with your forum topic discussion entitled "do you prefer riding a motorcycle as the second passenger.". I hope i give a good response! Thank you! Happy posting and happy earning to us here in mylot. nice topic my friend!

I've been a second passenger twice but it was just only around in our subdivision on where a friend of mine offered me a ride going to our friend's house for hanging out which was just only a block away from us. I even considered of having one of my own because I actually loved it. As for daily basis, there's a part of me that says it's not a good idea even though I had experienced it twice and there's also a part of me that says I should give it a try, there's nothing wrong in taking the risk.

Hi fatherblogger, I had grown up riding my father's motorcycle lol... As expected because he was a genius motorcycle mechanic ^_^. But he never taught us how to drive because he knew how dangerous it is even though he was a careful driver. Though I know how to drive a motorcycle, I'm a bit afraid of driving one on a busy road because I know I have a bad eye-hand-foot coordination lol. Meaning a klutz hahaha. My father knew that we were trying secretly because of the dents on our tin fence but he never let on. As for your question, I'd rather ride the bus, jeepney or fx to get to work or anywhere than accept a ride from a friend on a motorcycle. Anyway, I only walk about 3 minutes to work so accepting a ride is out of the question... ^_^ Happy mylotting... and Happy Easter!!!

I can't claim myself an excellent driver, but somehow I always feel tensed when I sit as the pillion rider when someone drives the motor bike! Short trips are okay but when you have to drive through hectic traffic across 15 km, I feel very uncomfortable sitting at the back. It looks as though the driver is woefully lacking safety and sense of judgment! My wife always laughs at my average driving skills, but somehow she is not afraid of sitting behind me when I drive. I don't know how it is possible for her!

I wont mind riding a motorbike being a second passenger for i trust my frenz with their riding skills ^_^ Nothing is safe in the world although riding in a jeepney or bus provides a much safer option.. BUt come to think of it, if there are some reckless drivers on the road, it does not matter if we are on a motorbike or in a jeepney.. haha =D The danger is always there.. lol =D

I'm usually a nervous person when commuting, so I won't agree. Jeepneys are safer to ride, and I won't be bothering anyone, even if he was the one who offered. As you mentioned motorcycle accidents are rampant. God bless and all the best.

If I would be the passenger, I'd prefer riding a more secured vehicle rather than a motorcycle. Since some trips are quite long and boring, I'd go for a quick nap. Although there are times that I'd prefer a motorcycle. Those are the times wherein I'm such in a hurry and there is a heavy traffic.

Good day, fatherblogger. When they offer me a free ride on a motorcycle, I will accept it because I trust on the one who drives it. And besides, traffic is not a problem in the province, means there is lesser risk of collision to other vehicles. Enjoy posting... =)

Well, i don't own a car nor a bike but seriously, i wouldn't like to ride the bike because of the rampant accidents like you say and prefer cars instead. But well you see, because of the economy recession and all, we have to be frugal and logical about things and i guess if it was necessary, i'd have to take the bike then _
