Avocados are one of the few fruits that lower the bad cholesterol levels. I love the iceberg lettuce, celery , avocado slices salad. I also just cut it in half, take off the pit and put there olive oil and salt. Then I eat it with a teaspoon. Are you aware of the good things about avocados? Do you use them? How? In what kind of dishes? Please share

hi marguicha, my dear friend, i am not a big fan of aocados but my hubby like to have it some day so i make it for him and then i also eat. i make it in a very simple way i hope you can also try it sometime becasue it is too easytio make and is healthy also tohave. all you need is one large avocado, one smsall or medium onion one small garlic clove one tomato salt TWO TABLE SPOON OLIVE IOL one tbsp vinegar and black pepper now peel the clove of garlic and chop the onions very finely . add oil and vinegar to this stir well and and set asdide foe a while , you can refrigerate for fifteen minutes . just before serving cut the tomatos into cubes . peel the avocado and cut into cubes immediately add to the vinegar - oil mixture and stir to coat so the avocado wont turn brown. now add the chopped tomatoes and mix lightly. serve it on the leaf of lettuce and taste it. you will like it.

Avocados are basically my favorite things ever. I'll eat them in anything, haha, even raw!! Yes, the avocado contains fats, but they aren't terrible for you. Even though it may have more calories, it's definitely better for you than most processed foods and trans fats. My friends and I had an "avocado party" last summer where we each made separate dishes that contained avocado. I made a spicy chick pea masala curry, with an avocado/dill yogurt sauce. SO GOOD! I just took some plain yogurt, dill, a little bit of lime juice, 3 avocados, and a bit of cornstarch and put it in the blender. (The cornstarch is just to help the texture a bit, I only used half a teaspoon for a large container of yogurt). Since the avocado party, I've been making that yogurt a lot, and it goes well with so many things - I even use it as a Greek Tzatziki sauce for gyros and minced meat. Another simple avocado dish is avocado quesadillas! Take a tortilla, add some spicy salsa and pico de gallo, lettuce, cilantro, sliced avocado and swiss cheese. Take another tortilla and put it on top. Brush your skillet with some olive oil, and fry it up! The avocado and swiss go together so well, the subtly of both flavors compliment each other perfectly. :) Glad to see another person who appreciates the avocado!!!

I love avocados! They're my best source of healthy oils and good cholesterol. I'm a vegan, and I don't use oil when I cook because of the potentially carcinogenic effects. So I'm always happy when avocados are around. When they're in season, I slice them up and mix them with chopped apples or mangoes, then pour honey all over them. Sometimes I eat them with granola or oatmeal for a healthy breakfast..=)
