Children being treated as adults, adults being treated like children.

There was a report on the news either yesterday or the day before about a 6-year-old boy being called into court to face a judge because he temporarily--temporarily!-- removed his seatbelt while in a car.
Am I the only one who thinks we have it bass-ackwards in the US? Children are held to adult standards while adults are always having excuses made for their behavior, whether irresponsible, or downright evil. This child should never have been called into court--the punishment did not fit the crime, if indeed a crime had been committed.

This is ridiculous, but that's why it made the news. As for excuses being made for adults' bad behavior, it's the news because it benefits the fat cats. Most of us are as likely as not to be convicted of things we didn't do or over-sentenced. Prisons are full of people who havve no reason to be there and board rooms are full of people who should be in prison.

Justice? What's that? The legislature has made mandatory sentences, taking the sentencing process from the judiciary, therefore deestoying the checks and balances. These sentences are applied without any notice of individuality, so people are in jeopardy of serving years or even life in prison for no real reason. The really big guys get pardons or suspended sentences, or they're sent to the prisons that are nothing more than elaborate country clubs. Ordinary people are punished harshly every day, added to the fact that their sentences were to be taken from their loved ones and society, and that's supposed to be enough. Justice isn't blind; it's simply corrupt.

A child is a minor therefore the Parent or guardians responsiblity.
First of all to call a 6 year in court is pretty much lame. The judge who
called him in needs to get evaluated. lol.....
He has the mental capacity of a "flea"

I'd say more like an amoeba. A flea is too much of an organized creature. :D

That is ree-dum-diculous, as we used to say. A kid goes to court for adjusting his seat belt, and some dumb witted celeb, gets probation for Drunk Driving.

LOL! Really? I bet the child didn't even know what is happening! Anyways, why is he going to court over a seatbelt adjustment? How strange.
