After the introduction of mobile in our life we got mobility in calling and some extra features like alarm clock, Time, stop watch, camera do come with mobile. Due to this I am now not using my wrist watch for time. This also happend to my camera , I have the camera which is based on developing and printing of role. so now I am using my mobile as my digitel cam (3.0 megapixel ) .What about you ?

i think mobile has taken a lot of what you need individualy. it has been my task note book, reminders of birthday and important dates, calendar, camera and a video recorder at the same time. though i must say that watches is still cool for me as an accessory. my wife and me has the same watch with james dean and we love wearing this together.

Hi ,
The Mobiles have surely changes our way of life .No doubt,it has caused nuisance also in terms of reduced privacy .
However,it enables us to call anyone from anywhere .So,we do not have to search for a Landline Phone in case of emergency or otherwise.
Also,it serves as a substitute or alternative to wrist watch and now cameras also .
I feel that Wrist watches and Cameras still have their place.
Mobile Cameras have been upgraded a lot .Still; they are far behind Digital Cameras as well as SLR s etc .
Also, one may have to switch off one's mobile somewhere ;then he or she can still use his or her wrist watch to check out the time .
Otherwise also ;mobiles still lack some of the charm of wrist
watches.
Functionality wise though;the things could be different .
Regards

I'm way behind the times! Mostly because of thrift but also because I'm at an age when I don't need complications in my life. I'm used to alarm clocks, my digital camera, I don't need a stop watch. My phone is a simple phone, no extras, and it costs me $15 a month for 300 minutes. I have over 40 hours of minutes saved up!! See, it's for emergencies only and if my children need to call me. They live 1800 miles away, they're grown and in college, and I want them to be able to call me wherever I am. I also use it if I have an emergency (not yet, thank God) or if I am between stops and want to sit down somewhere quiet and call my sons.
I have about 15 rolls of film that I have to get developed before they take that option away from me! Some of them are quite old and I hope the pics on them are still ok. I think I will take a couple rolls in tomorrow, it's time to get those pictures developed!

Same here, my cellphone is my watch, alarm clock and camera. i don't need to wear watch anymore. I used my phone as alarm clock. And anytime that i want to take my picture or somthing that caught my eyes, i have my cellphone and its better than my digicam.

I believe they have; the mobile phone continually becomes more advanced and offers more features thus prompting us to replace a lot of the objects we had relied on in the past for one handy device that can do it all. I personally use my cell phone to check the time, create to-do lists, jot down notes, create a calendar/schedule, and as an alarm clock. The only time I really use the camera is for picture messaging, but I suppose that still counts as well. I do have a watch that I wear periodically, but it's more of an extra accessory now rather than the practical tool it used to be for me.

Watches and alarm clocks works for me but camera I still prefer the old style i.e the separate camera. I think the picture quality is much better even if it has the mega pixel, but regarding alarms and watches my mobile has completely dominated and i have already dumped the large alarm clocks and i no longer wear wrist watches these days.

Yes to some extent mobile has replaced watch, stop watch, camera etc. I have not used watch from long 5-6 years and using mobile to look for time. Even mobile with camera and computer is quit useful for printing photgraph. Though Iam not using camera for taking pic but sometimes it is useful for taking shots in emergency.

I think you are right.
And yes Mobile phones has taken over watches, Alarm clocks and Cameras.
Mobile phones has clock in it we can set alarm in it and even many mobiles have a good quality camera integrated in it.
So I guess it is one thing with many features and so has been a replacement for those other things.

I used to be crazy about watches.I owned three or four, but as time passed some of them broke and others I gave to my friends.Anyway I don't have one anymore.I use my mobile phone to see what the time is because I don't have a watch but I've never had an alarm clock. Why would I buy one if I have two phones and both of them have alarm watches and all I need?
It didn't use to be like this a few years back when the phones were big as a rock and they didn't even fit in our pockets.Who wold have ever thought that we would have a lot smaller phones with digital cameras incorporated?
We've come a long way and there is still more to come.

I'm guilty of replacing my alarm clock with my mobile but the rest of the features like camera, internet and such are just added benefits for my mobile. It means that I can use it in case of emergency :). I still like to use the real thing. The camera for example, the quality is not really the same. I still prefer the pics taken from a digicam. The internet; the ease of surfing is still better done through a laptop or pc. I guess it really depends on the use. A professional trainer of a car racing for example will hesitate to use a mobile as a stopwatch until he has no other option.

I still have my wristwatch because I sont always carry my phone around with me. Also in some places where they don't have a clock and your not allowed to have a cellphone, I use it. My phone's camera is bad so I stick with most of the old stuff.

I think that a mobile phone will transform into a mini computer wich will result that people use their phone instead of their computer. Ok people would use the computer because of the sceen and for its comfortibliliy. But I think that the phone will take over de whole "gadgets" scene.

I think the cell phone has taken over most of the world and other technology... and I must say our brains and security. Try remembering your best friends phone number.. most people can't because they have it saved in their contacts... if you leave your house without your cell you are totally lost ... don't know how you are going to get home or call a cab or live without it. they also act as alarm clocks and schedulers ... I think its time that we start using our brains again.

For me, my mobile phone has taken over the alarm clock as the cell phone has alarm in it. As for watches, i still wear a watch whenever I go out. stop watches? Hardly use them.

I have seperate watch & alarm clock... I used to use my cell phone as my camera but my work provided me with a digital camera so use that... I don't like using my cell phone for anything other than what it's meant to be used for, calling... Ok, sometimes I use it for text messages, too...

I don't have watch and in recent past I didn't have alarm clock either. So, I was dependent on my mobile for time as well as alarm. Even I didn't have clalender with me when I was in New Delhi. So, mobile was my only friend who used to tell me what day today is.
With that digital calander I could make important notes and keep reminders to remind me of important tasks.
Thanks for the quality discussion.

I work at a high school, and sometimes I am without my watch (I don't carry my cell phone to school at all). I will ask for the time and no student will have a watch. They are all dependent on their cell phones to tell time, and it seems that watches are out of fashion because of this. I wonder if this change will be permanent.
