Whats so sweet about sixteen?

Yeah so um I'm sure you've heard this phrase 'sweet sixteen' so I was wondering like what's so sweet about sixteen? I mean I will be sixteen in 6 months but still I'd like to listen like why is it only sweet sixteen why not sweet seventeen or maybe fabulous fifteen or why not funky fourteen....XD well anyway I'd like to hear what you all have to say! yeah experience talks, etc. share it here.

Maybe because you're taking one more step towards being an adult. 16, if you ask me, is way different than 15 - you're an actual TEENAGER when your'e 16, whereas you might have been considered a "pre-teen" before. For some reason, a lot of parents (especially rich ones) throw their children a "sweet sixteen" party when their birthdays roll around - as a rite of passage of sorts. So maybe it evolved out of that. Who knows?
