today ,many chinese parents send their children abroad to get a higher education and hope that their children should study some new knowledge from other countries ,never care about how much they will spend . the problom is more and more students are quite younger and younger ,they dont even know about chinese culture ,let alone other cultures . cross-culture communication is quite important for chinese ,but I think we should first let students master some basic chinese culture ,then it will be good for them to study foreign cultures. native culture is the basic skills for a native speaker.

When it comes to financial aspect, parents doesn't care of how much money they will spend for their child's education. If ever they are sending their children for higher education abroad it is all because they just want to give the best education for a good future. Parents want the best for their children, and they can't be blame for that. Of what you said regarding cross-culture communication, basically, I agree with you, but somehow the parents as the first teacher of their children can still teach and remind them of it. :)

Parents always think of their children's education. They would always want the best for their children. So perhaps this is the reason why they send their children abroad to study without thinking of the high cost of education if they can afford it. I also think a number of these student are scholars. Culture in one country should be taught in early part of the education system so young children be able to learn their roots and culture. Going out of the country is also a learning process of learning other cultures in comparison to our own cultures as well.

The only important culture they learnt is the importance of studies and importance of working hard. Throughout China history, education is the only factor that matters. Scholars rank higher than merchants and farmers. Chinese students are very proud of their cultures, even though they may not be to recall many historical figures. Actually it is good for students to study overseas, they will learn to be ashamed of themselves if they do not know their own culture. Imagine a foreigner asks them about the culture and they say "I do not know". The foreigner will laugh at them and not respect them.

Actually people are very funny, they will appreciate native culture only when they are in a foreign land. Sometimes we take things for granted, like the Chinese New Year celebration and does not really feel the importance of it in our life. Once in a foreign land, then the appreciation hits home. That is the time to tell people about the festival, tell foreign friends about the stories and legends behind the Chinese New Year, explains about the 2 different calendars in use, namely the farmer calendar and the Chinese Lunar calendar. There is no need to keep the children at home country till they know about their own cultures.

I think chinese students are already exposed to their culture before they go out of their country. When I taught in China some years back, I observed that their teachers inculcated Chinese culture to their students very well from grade 1 until they finish their high school. I even heard one Chinese teacher said that even if you go to other countries, always remember your culture and that you are still a Chinese.

they dont worry about how much theywill spend becse it is the state who pays the bills, in return they will have to be at the states disposall for a couple of years. but yes you are right, people should get to really know they're on culture before they are immersed in others.
