I think our indian team needs two or three major all rounders. For instance, you take south africa's ALBIE MORKEL AND JACQUES KALLIS, they are plus points for the team .

you are true, India really needs an all-rounder for the better stability of the team. This particular debate has been doing rounds for so long, but no one could find an appropriate answer to this particular problem. To take into account for the last 5-6 years, India tried to build one all-rounder out of Irfan Pathan, but this experiment failed in such a manner that now Irfan is out of Indian national team!! Irfan surprised us with his immense talent of swing bowling, but the process to convert him into an all-rounder took such a heavy toll that we lost a brilliant swing bowler. We should not rely too much on finding out an all-rounder, because now Indian team is performing very well without a genuine one. any one of the players currently on Indian team can give an all-round performance in any match. For example, Harbhajan Singh has done a wonderful job with his regular half-centuries in recent series. Sehwag has sometimes contributed with his part-time spin bowling, also Yuvraj is good at spin too. Other notable potential performers can be Yusuf Pathan and Rohit Sharma, who can bowl good. One of the upcoming all-rounders can be the young talent Ravindra Jadeja. He is a very good all-rounder for his state side and for his IPL team Rajasthan Royals. The debate of all-rounder will go on for ages, but we should be more focused at the performance of the team. What is the use of having 3-4 all-rounders if the team as a hole is not performing well. Hope you find my response interesting, have a nice day. Bye

For vipinl, Rohit Sharma has bowled a few times while playing for the Indian team. He bowls for his Ranji team as well. Though he does not bowl frequently, but he can come handy at times. Dhoni should give him the ball on a regular basis. Thanks for your comments.

Indian team have few all rounders as good as Albie Morkel, if not better than him. Irfan is good with bat but his bowling has gone down from what he used to be when he started his career, yousuf too is good so is Sehwag and Sachin they can also be handy as bowlers. Dhoni is all rounder as wel as he also operates behind the wickets. You are right that we never had an all rounder of Kallis's caliber after kapil Dev. But most of our batsman can be handy with bowl at times, which in combine fill spot for that all rounder.

We need an all rounder who can bowl full quota over consistently. No one in your list has the potential. At best, they are part time bowlers.

i believe u r missing something.in the present ODI team, every one can bowl and bat besides ishant who had to prove himself as a ok batsmen.the only worry should have been all these part time bowlers are all spinners.except dada we didnt have any medium pace all rounder. but now we dont have to worry much about all rounder, that too pacy all rounders.we already got them zaheer and praveen kumar had proved that they can bat as well as bowl yeah u can ask that they dont score centuries like kallis but people they play as number 8 and 9 and u can expect them to make 100's. i know that praveen kumar opens the innings for his state team and scored some centuries.zaheer has proved many times that he is a thorn for the opposition both as a bowler and batsmen.

Zaheer is a bowler who can bat, he is not an all rounder. You can not trust on him when it comes to batting. But yes, he bats better than Praveen Kumar. Kumar like Agarkar is a strange case. We know that they can bat very well. But this knowledge, more than often, leads to India losing the match. By believing on their batting potential the team management choose some different combinations and then they show they never meant business. India has not all rounders. The team performance is good and it is the opportune time to try one.

absolutely right buddy.what india lacks is a pace bowling all rounder, someone who will bowl 10 overs and can get you wickets.i think if we can get an all rounder we will be no 1 side very soon.
