Think of someone who is fully paralyzed and he is always in pain. There is no chance that he will survive and he still have to go through this living hell for another 5 to 6 years. His brain is still fully functional and you can see expressions of pain and sadness on his face and in his eyes. He is dying before your eyes bit by bit.
Is killing someone in this condition a crime or a sin?
I personally have known and seen some people in these conditions. Some were able to speak and screamed for death.I can't explain it to you how it feels when you are there and hear their screams.
I have no idea if I am for or against it.
Whats your opinion?

Most Christians believe the 10 Commandments are commandments, not suggestions. Thou shall not kill doesn't mean "thou shall not kill but you can sometimes".
I work at a nursing home with people like this every day.
One woman who came in is only in her early 50s. When she got there she had cancer and a Nurse told me she was probably only going to live a couple of months. That was over a year ago, she's going home tomorrow.
You never know, it's not up to us to decide, we can't create life, I don't feel it's right to take it away. I don't even like killing bugs in my house, I usually set them free.

Good point about the army. I guess that could also apply if someone is being attacked.
The woman did wish and request to die when she was really sick and her hair fell out from the Chemo. (Sp)
I also know that most people who are dieing are heavily sedated and aren't thinking clearly. I don't know, but I know I could never assist anyone. And most of the people that die, are completely out of it for months and months, sometimes years before they finely let go.
When you try to feed them and can only get them to sip a vitamin drink 3 times a day it makes you wonder why they hang on so long. I know the will to live is very strong.

Mercy killing or euthanasia, i agree with it but it depends on the situation. For example, if I am living because of the life support system for more than months now, then i will have another relapse, it's okay with me if my family will sign a letter allowing the doctor not to revive me anymore. That is the only case, I'm allowing the mercy killing but aside from that, not agreeing with it. Miracle do happen and i've seen lots of it.

I have to agree with you. I would never want my family or hard working tax payers to have to pay thousands, possibly millions of dollars to keep me on life support either.

I think people should be "allowed" to die if they are in great pain...I have been few times in terrible pain, and pain killers couldn't do anything about it...From hour to hour the pain felt terrible, I actually wished for a while that I should almost die that the pain never goes away..I don't understand why people cant be let to die if they want to...the money and the time used to keeping someone alive who doesn't want to be alive could be used for something better..I'm not saying it is bad cause to keep them alive, but what is the point if they DONT want to live?..

Not at all!! Our life is borrowed and you cannot take away something that is just borrowed from our supreme being...

cos my mother is a doctor,i`ve seen these conditions since i was a little girl.i totally sympathetic about these patients for i understand their pain.it`s a terrible things to see them screaming.
so perhaps euthanasia maybe a better comforable way to go.if i`m in that situation,i would receive euthanasia.

I am 100% for euthanasia for animals in pain as well as for people who no longer have quality of life and want to die.

You are actually speaking of euthanasia and it’s a big debatable issue the world over. I am myself not decided on this coz I have not seen anybody from close range who is suffering from some incurable disease and would like to die. But if I may ever have any physical ailment like paralysis, I think I would be glad to know that the choice is in my hands i.e. IF I want, I can choose whether to go on living being dependent on others or make a dignified exit.

I believe that only God can take away a life of a person, if the person is still alive, though suffering severe pain, then there is a reason for that. We do not know fully well what the future has in store, only God does, therefore it is not in our hands to decide whether or not we should take a person's life, even if it seems like he will have to live with pain for the rest of his life. I can imagine how it would feel to see a loved one in pain, it hurts to that we can do nothing to ease that pain. We just have to surrender everything to God.

I think if we kiled such a person, it definetely is a crime and a sin. Now if that person killed himself, I'll leave that one up to God.
I would hope that we could develop some medicine that could make a person suffering comfortable even with strong pain.

I belive it is wrong to take someones life even if they are in great pain.God has a reason for our pain,We don't always understand why.

you should take your corage to face that, after all, pain must be overcome by people, everyone may face someting painful in their lives,we should not be scared.

Well i seen some of my family go through that. It was hard to watch and my grandpa would say over and over that he wanted to die. But personally i couldnt kill someone whether they were in pain or not. And i think most people would think that way. So who would do it? but if they were on life support for along time and there was no chance of ever being taken off of it thats different.

I find it very hard to understand why people can see it is not right for animals to be in pain so it is acceptable to have them put to sleep, but think that humans should be made to suffer. If people have made it known that they do not want to prolong their suffering then they should be allowed to die. It's difficult if the person has not made their wishes known, but in a lot of cases people have made it clear what they want, but are kept alive against their will. How many people can honestly say that they would choose years of pain and suffering?
